I have performed my good karma deed for the day.
A girl at work (a fit bird at that!) has a little '93 mazda 121 bubble sedan, which her alternator shat itself.
Background on the girl... She's a Clinical Nurse Specialist like me, but she operates in the cardiac (heart surgery) theatres. She's studying at the moment, she's in the Navy as a reservist, and also does
at least two charity trips overseas a year, helping third world countries with cardiac surgery, for free. She even pays for her own flights and accommodation!
Sweet girl (why I can't find me one who's like this, and not a deadbeat?)
She was complaining that a couple of auto leccy's were quoting her $400-$500 for the replacement, and that she was a bit strapped for cash.
Anyways, this morning, went to pick'n'payless. Found an alternator, unbolted it from a wreck, it looked like it was reconditioned recently (fresh silver paint on it... and it looked good), and managed to talk old mate down to $50 for it.
Chucked it into her car.
Little animal of an alternator charges at 14.4v, even with headlights on! Better than mine!

I figured that she gives so much to the world, that it would be a privilege to help her out!
Warm and fuzzies rawk.
