Yes but how much of that is freshly harvested each week and does it grow fast enough to produce enough volume to feed everyone.
I don't trust any food from China or any countries like that. We've had a few chinese food products come through our shop and it is really not up to scratch - and that's not even people food.

To feed everyone? No. On the flip, not that many people could afford to use what I use for production at home. I use often organic cert fruit and the like. One of the biggest heart breakers you have at famers market is blokes that tell you they've tipped a few tonne of produce because it wasn't grade spec for Woolies/Coles - by this, I mean the Strawberries where too small, not the right shape, joined etc.etc - beautiful fruit. I've got an Avocado farm around the corner and if they are too 'round' instead of the traditional pear shape - the chains won't take them, so there is no point carting them to market for the ridiculous price they'd get for them.

The population to food ratio is obviously a massive factor, but a shift in mentality as to what a tomato SHOULD look like, or what a lemon SHOULD look like needs to change drastically. I can't even fathom how much produce is being ditched because of ignorance in the common public.
