Why is the diesel so much better? I've honestly never considered buying a diesel. .6L/100k doesn't seem like a very big difference...

Driveability is what it come down to with me Nik.

Petrol was a bit gutless and didn't have much downlow - the diesel on the other hand had plenty of grunt down low and once it come on boost was actually impressively quick - I don't think it would have much trouble keeping a V6 commodore.

It was just a much much nicer engine to live with.

Drive both for yourself though
