Yeah it's full on. Some of the stuff he says is pretty hard to understand, but you get the idea most of the time.

There was another one he told me, one of his mates had a bomb go off about 5 feet away from him and blew half his leg off. He was laying there, and there was enemies walking towards him with auto machine guns, and he only had a pistol. He sawed the rest of his leg off with a knife, waited, and chucked his severed leg out next to them. When the patrol turned around to investigate, he pumped them both with his pistol, and dragged himself to the hospital, which was about 150m away. Got all stitched up, and ended up living through the war. Has a prosthetic leg and shit now. He actually ended up helping defend the hospital in Bosnia from being taken.

My grandpa had both his legs blow off in the war by a grenade, both above the knee.

He had two prosthetic legs. (but passed away when I was about 5)

Talking of war stories... this is funny one..

My mums great grandfather on her mums side (English) and great grandfather on dads side(German) fought against each other in the war.

German ggf shot down English ggf's plane, shot him in the leg and captured him, 2 weeks later he escaped.. then a year later English ggf's squad captured German ggf and shot him in the leg. had him for 3 weeks. then he escaped. end of the war, some time later they both moved to South Africa, the rest is history lol
