Prior to this Omar claimed not to have any knowledge of his fathers whereabouts or having even spoken to him for many years.

If I am honest I don't know about the law thing hey.... they believed he was a terrorist and claim he took responsiblity for the planning etc, I guess that means they are fine to kill him providing the soldiers followed the rules of engagement given to them which was pretty much kill him unless he is butt naked so you know he is no threat.
