I was conceived in the 80s.

hth

Painfully obvious design flaws in this case.

The LP-670SV - whilst being an amazing car, just hasn't had the same incredible outlandish celebrity status that the F40, the Countach and the 959 had in the 80's. Maybe the internet really is desensitising people to these cars? 600hp, 3 odd seconds to 100km/h - and? Nothing shocks us like a 3.7 second Porsche would have in 1987.

Maybe I'm just getting old? I see the Veyron as being the defining automotive 'moment' from the 2000's - and for the 90's - I'd find it hard to look past the XK220? For the 80's though, I can't really see a clear cut winner. The f40 is pretty hard to ignore though...

Agreed, internet just makes people go meh to a picture, but in the flesh they're insane, the engine sound alone of a lambo is enough.

XK220 does sum up the curves of the 90's super cars, for sure Ferrari owned the 80's, Porsche have had the same design forever so they don't win shi7 for the 80's, but the e30 M3 comes from that decade, the first M3.

I prefer the Porsche over the F40 :P

F40 is okay but it's another car that I SHOULD love... but I simply don't, I like it but I don't love it.

I'm only going off what I've seen and driven on GT5, but it's the only car in the game that actually beats race cars and matches them.

Are you trying to say that the Pontiac Stinger isn't one of the finest ideas in automotive history?

Hands down a chick's pants usually means winning.

Depends.... If she is a fat chick than it certainly is not winning... I would go as far as to say that is loosing.

Morning all.

That Supra is FAST. Funny seeing a nitrous purge on something other that an old school V8.

I must be old school

Morgs, listen to Nik. Fark the Subaru.
Your birthday must be very near to mine??

959 and F40 are waaay cool.
I remember when Channel 7s "Beyond 2000" did a story on the new 959. :)

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

BMW M3 is not, and never will be a super car.

Mclaren; whilst hindsight would allow us to compare the cars longevity as a supercar - was not the first million dollar car in the world. The Jag was a celebrity, it was everywhere, everyone wanted to see one. The Mclaren may be technically better - but I just don't think it made a big enough splash to own the decade.

One of the crazier concepts from the 80's; Citroen Karin;

Why bring up fatties. If you can fit your arms into the over sized fatty pants than that is loosing, but it's not hands down, it's arm down.

What have we learnt?;Arms Down=Losing, Hands Down=Winning Fingers Up=You've WOn

the real answer in the Oxford English Dictionary. "Hands down," it seems, dates back to the mid-19th century and harks, not from card-playing or schoolyard fisticuffs, but from the genteel world of horseracing. A jockey nearing the finish line well ahead of the competition, with victory certain, would often relax his posture and drop his hands, relaxing his hold on the reins, as his steed galloped the final few yards. To win a race "hands down," therefore, was to win it easily, without any serious competition, and by the late 19th century the phrase was being used in non-racing contexts to mean "with no trouble at all."

I like the hands down hot chicks pants theory better.

What does hands down even mean.

It is an expression that came from horse racing. When a jockey was far enough ahead of the rest just before crossing the finish line, you might see him release his grip from the reins and drop his hands down in a gesture to all that says it was an easy win. So, I to beat it hands down would mean to win effortlessly.
