I was wrong. It's hotter today. Much hotter. It's not even eight and we're hitting 26!

Damn, not good Nik. We had a few hot assed days last week. Just under 30*c outside at my place at the moment, not too bad.

Was warm when I was driving between CBD and Subi this morning. Thankfully I have been inside an A/C'd building all day yayayay PS Drove a VE commonhore (work car) and my god, what a bucket of crap!! 1) It barely has more room than an RS lib in the front 2 and this is the worst bit) BLIND SPOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! The pillars are so freaking big, you can't see anything around you, forget checking on your right side blind spot, there are 2 pillars and the headrest in the way (you actually have to look around your left shoulder to see what is on the right). You can't tell where the front of the car is (I thought I was about to bump into the car in front of me when parking... I was 3 foot away from it) 3) Motor is crap, or if the motor is good, all the power is lost in the slushbox and suspension 4) Can't hold a speed 5) Seasick 6) Have you seen the handbrake! hahaha 7) The brakes, while doing a good job in stopping the car, have no feel to them at all 8) Steering, yup, it steers. Although I think I was using "the force" more than anything else /rant

Also. Why do people keep asking me how hot it is when they are standing right next to me? Is my internal barometer more accurate than most? How could these people possibly know that my temperature measurement is closer calibrated to truth than the person standing right behind me?

Good point Richo. Sounds like it got a bit exciting in the Commo? I am pretty surprised you saying it is comparable space wise to an RS Lib! Fork!

That was all from two quick jaunts between the CBD and Subiaco :( Only good bit was the soft suspension going down hay st Work has a VY or X ?? and the VE. The VS is better. You can see, it has more room, the auto feels better, I can hold a speed. The VE has a lot of cabin area, but the center console/glove box area is really wide. The pedals are way forward so even I (6' of me) need the seat forward which means I look like an old aged pensioner with thick glasses and a straw hat on the rear parcel shelf. With my.. ample frame, the RS is a snug fit, but the VE really wasn't much better

Nik (and Richo), Went from my place to Karrinyup shops. Was 33 when I left my place (according to car temp). I checked it again when i'd just pulled into the carpark and it was 42. Took the coast home (through Cottesloe/Freo) and it went back down to 33. Stupid northeners.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

Interesting.
I drove a VE for the first time yesterday. Mind you it was a Calais V.
I want one :)

Ive been a Holden nut all through my childhood (could define exactly what car it was but looking at the wheels) but have gone astray since dad sold the VY to get an SUV for mum. I think the love has returned!!

-I didnt have enought of a drive to need to check blind spots but i know the pillars are huge and that is a problem.
-The Calais V has the 5sp auto which was in no way a 'slushbox'. So smooth and tight.
-You dont like the handbrake? Thats more personal opinion. I find it a real space saver. The current falcons have sitting up like a burch broom on a stick where as the VE's one tucks away nicely.
-I found the steering really easy and comfortable. I guess im comparing all this to the other cars in its class (Falcons) which i drive every day. Their steering is such a pain in the ass. The Holden's almost drove for you compared to the Ford's which is a real effort to turn anywhere.
-The accelerator has a much better feel to it too. I never know when the Ford is going to kick into action but the Holden had so much more control over the power.

It is all up to personal opinion but i can say after having driven a 2008/9 Falcon, XR6, G6E, and wagon (BF), a few minutes of the VE pwned all of them!!!!

i had a VE Statesman for work a while ago and i hated the seats, huge flat seats, although leather just had no form to them, i am a skinny runt but still i shouldn't be sliding around on a seat :| The slushbox was well not so slush, i actually didnt mind it (but omega's and such are worse than a 7-11 slurpee on a 42deg day), AND the drive by wire... OMFG i could pump my foot to the ground and off again quickly and nothing would happen, almost a half second delay. the other thing... FARKING traction control electronic stability whatever they call it now ESP... its just shit... the slightest bit of throttle while doing a uturn and the statesman would just jitter then stop, i was caught out a few times while i had the car, pull a uturn in a short break of traffic and the car literally just stops and rolls! but without the ESP the throttle is just too touchy. i found it really hard, even with Cruise control on to hold 60km/h it just wants to sit at 70 or 50. Overall the power was nice but just not useable. and although after a month of driving VE's i still found the pillars too big and the seats lacking form made me feel quite unsafe.. my missus is quite small so i would never buy one, for her to see around the pillars and drive the car would be unsafe and the seats for me lacked support so for her it would be like driving a valiant with a bench seat. anyway thats my rant over also... on another note, weather was nice here today. fired up the Webber for the first time. MMMMM forgot how good meat from a webber tastes. :drinks:

Omega's are horrid. They the old 4spd auto from the earlier models. I have to agree tho, the VE looks good on the outside, and is pleasing to look at on the inside. But I really think if you put a VY/VZ interior into it, the car would be SO much nicer.

I drove a Statesman rental when I went up to Brissy/Gold Coast earlier this year...twas okay. Funny me driving a car with that much legroom when I simply don't need it :sarcastic: It didn't feel particularly fast (V6) probably because of all the weight. Plus QLD roads are massive compared to here in Sydney. The interior looked a lot better in the promo photos than it does in real life. I found it a bit bland. Not bad though. The interior of a gen4/5 Liberty would be much better though... Anyway...weekends over :( But I can smell the festive season! :) Starts tomorrow - work x-mas party :D

Can't agree there, I found the Gen4 GT interior to be akin to a Camry.
