May be a silly question, but why do you have to change the speakers and amp? can't ya just wire the old wires into the new unit?

Nope, as the wires coming out of the head unit are powered and the amp inputs aren't meant to be powered, also the Mcintosh amp doesn't work without the head unit (vise versa) they are pretty much one unit.
Also, if the new unit was just to power the stock Mcintosh speakers it would stuff up the new head unit because of the different ohms. I did a lot of research into this haha.
Also, it is very very easy to return to stock, just remove the new head unit and mp3 input.

May need a pro to take off the old tint on the rear window too so i dont screw up the demister and aerial etc.

You just use a steamer to peel the old stuff old - it makes the glue soft again and the old tint just peels off.

I got my tint re-done about 2 months ago, 35% at the front (so legal) and 5% for all the other rear windows (not so legal). I paid mates rates, $150...

I figured you would've done your homework (hence my asking), it was something I've been thinking bout doin for a while.

That thing is never going to go anywhere! It's got a brick in front of its wheel! Oh, and whilteline have sold out of the sway linkages!!!! arggggg.... Luckily he gave me the name of a place over here that had 1 left in stock, phew! Should be back on the road by this weekend.
