G'day boys / Gals,

Yep i'm still alive,

I'm in the market for an update and been shopping around, but man i'm stuck!!

I need something gay again, so Lib GT is going on carsales next weekend, I need a "Family Car"

So, i've been looking at the below, any + and -'s you peeps know of first hand?

This is the order of what I actually want, and what I have been told I want.

- Forrester (Turbo or Non, not fussed, but will be the luxury pack)
- Subaru XV (Do they come turbot?)
- Accord Euro (Brilliant experience with my last one)
- Mazda CX 5 (Been told I want this, but the skyactive setup looks good)
- VW Tiguan (No chance, but again, been told I want it)

You can see it's more the small 4wd look i'm after, anyone recommend another model? max I wanna spend is 40k, and must have leather as an option.

Cheers
Brendan

What about an Outback? My dad always had one when we were growing up!

I would have a few years ago, but no offence to any owners out there, the new Liberty is the most horrible and putrid looking thing out there (my opinion)

G'day boys / Gals,

Yep i'm still alive,

- Mazda CX 5 (Been told I want this, but the skyactive setup looks good)

The Mazda's look good. (for a boring family car)
Skyactive, apart from the engine cutting out for a max of 120sec when standing still, is really just a series of improvements to engine efficency.

Diesels are a twin turbo.
Irony?

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

New forester - if you consider this, trust me....you will want the turbo spec. They are painfully painfully slow in 2.5n/a.

You could pick up a gt lux probably 2 years old for sub 40k easy these days.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

*XT Prem? ^^

GT Lux's finished in 02.

XTP can be had for about 30k and I've heard good things about them.

twin-scroll, not twin turbo.

I did Mazda training on this last week.

I'll check my notes but Im fairly sure they run two turbos, one on top of the other mounted between engine and firewall.

BMW diesel is now triple turbo.
Two small, one big.

maybe thats where the confusion is...

conflicting info from drive.com.au

Mazda is marketing the 2.2-litre twin-scroll four-cylinder turbo diesel engine as the premium drivetrain for its CX-5, mated exclusively to its mid-range Maxx Sport and range-topping Grand Touring models, and only to its all-wheel-drive platform.

Looks as if Drive need to review their facts.

So I test drove the petrol non turbo 4cyl petrol today, the most gutless and plastic car I've been in, for a long time.

Y U BUY A PU55Y ASS SOFTROADER?

hai brendan

i've been having similar discussions with my gf.

softroaders (essentially all of the cars on your list) are off. we essentially need something that tows 3t (gf has a wake boarding boat).

for $50k, i reckon you could do so much better than a CX5.

that's my curveball for you brother.

hope all's well.
