I was just looking at the tax tables.. now I don't know if I am missing something but this seems shit to me.
Our upper tax bracket is 180K + at the moment... the rate jumps from 37% to 45% tax...... If someone had no tax writeoffs etc (probably not going to happen) and earned 179,000 in a year they would pay $66,230 tax.. meaning they take home $112,770..... if someone was to earn $2000 a year more, $181,000 they would pay $81,450 tax and take home $99,550.. So in that case they would take home $13,220 less for earning $2000 more!

Obviously one would... but my example as mentioned was for someone that had no writeoffs.... I must be missing something, surely!

So tax calc reckons that the person earning 181K would be taking home $122,188, 179K takes $121,072 so the 181K does take more (which makes sense) I am just trying to work out what I have missed!!!!!!!!
