I was just looking at the tax tables.. now I don't know if I am missing something but this seems shit to me.

Our upper tax bracket is 180K + at the moment... the rate jumps from 37% to 45% tax...... If someone had no tax writeoffs etc (probably not going to happen) and earned 179,000 in a year they would pay $66,230 tax.. meaning they take home $112,770..... if someone was to earn $2000 a year more, $181,000 they would pay $81,450 tax and take home $99,550.. So in that case they would take home $13,220 less for earning $2000 more!

I though the way it worked, is only the amount over the 180k bracket is taxed higher: so you would be taxed at 37% for the 180k, and then the $1000 on top of that is taxed at 45%
