They called me back on friday, they are paying out and i should have the money by the end of next week. Minus the excess im getting $1850. So about what i spent on the car.
Have found a VX Commodore in town (auto ) for $5000 (will talk him down he is desperate to sell) with 150,000k's and completely stock minus the "mags". apparently its in immaculate condition minus some wear on the drivers seat.
He has bought a new car so he wants the commodore gone. Will take my best mates dad along and get him to talk him down, he got my mates car from $12,000 to $8750.

I don't know what his walk away price would be, like i said this town always has overpriced second hand cars. I would guess maybe $4500 as he has lowered the price from $6000 already. I will offer him $3500 to start off with, and talk cash.
First step is to nit pick about minor things to drive the price down.
