Looks nice. Good price it would seem.

Driving in melbourne sucks. Seen so many cars with smashed front bumpers!

So far all im liking is the amount of porsches i've seen.

Driving in Sydney.....now THAT sucks.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

It seems good. But I've not been known to not like wagons over sedans. I guess it'll be the deciding factor when I see it in person I guess.

Would you consider buying a car that has a written-off status stating:

This vehicle has previously been recorded as a written-off vehicle in NSW or another jurisdiction due to vehicle stripping damage, and has been cleared for re-registration.

When asked about this, the owner of the car said that he bought it without the front (or both, can't remember now) seats and without a front bumper. All seats and bumper are authentic Subaru parts that he replaced them with though. He has receipts and pictures of the car before he did the work. Everything else in the REVS checked out perfectly.

Honest opinions?

the only problem I see is resale value.

Maybe a bargaining tool though?

Indeed. But would that be the only downside to it all?

It would need to be pretty cheap.
Why was it written off? Did you do a PPSR check?
Im going through the motions ATM with the charcaol one in Melb (probably buy the balck one in Adelaide but meh) as it was written off due to hail in June 2010.
The bloke had it repaied in August 2012 at a cost of $2.5k and showed me the reciept but cant tell me how he got $20k+ (the value of the car at the time it was written off) of damage repaired for what he paid. Hence, it's still for sale at $18k.

Check with the rego office that it is clear to change owner ship and that you will be able to sell it. (In Vic they need VIV clearance if assigned as repairable write off) I thought NSW only has non-repairable write off???
Also call your insurance company and check they will insure it. They usually value cars with write off histroy at 75-80% of market value.

After all that checks out, offer them $10k as thats all it's worth.
