Crane on fire at Broadway in Sydney City apparently

Damn Sydney-siders.

Their cranes aren't even straight.

It says twenty workmen ran, then twenty fire fighters ran.... Standard Sydney reporting.

Why would a dripping diesel tank cause the crane to break?

Why would a dripping diesel tank cause the crane to break?

I think the heat of the flames probably weakened the cables that hold the thing stable.

Just seems a bit odd that diesel managed to spark up, even though the crane was visibly a fair few stories higher than where any work would be taking place. I have a slight leak (only a story Mr.EPA - promise) out of my 1250L diesel tank, and you can't just spark it up with a lighter, you have to hold it there for a good while.

Yeah for sure, we have had a good few days of some high temps which would have pre-heated the diesel a bit, that will make it a fair bit easier to ignite... but yeah, it would still take a bit of effort!, maybe the crane operator wanted a day off so he smashed a blow torch onto it ? :P

It wouldn't surprise me, in Sydney's current construction climate.

Don't toy with me, woman.

The Subaru BRZ STI should arrive in showrooms next spring ...

The most important news is that it won't be turbocharged due to engine bay space limitations as there isn't enough room to squeeze in an intercooler. The good news is that power will be raised at up to 230 hp (171 kW) thanks to variable valve control system tweaks and an increased rev limit past 7,500 rpm.

Dampers and springs will also be upgraded, along with the addition of four-piston STI brakes and 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped around in grippier rubbers.

In terms of design, the BRZ STI will get a front lip spoiler, updated grille, different side skirts and a large rear wing. Bucket seats and additional dials are expected inside the cabin.
