Plenty of info on here to read in regards to engine upgrades & conversions. Have a look in the N/A section to start.
Are you talking about improving your existing N/A or are you interested in a complete engine conversion?

Big $$$ for little gains.
Bolt on mods do bugger all.
Turbo conversions are the way to go.
Check out this thread, it will learn you.

Hey I was just wondering what are some engine upgrades I could do to my gen 3 liberty rx? thanks.
Honestly with a non turbo engine I would focus on making it handle better. Springs, coilers, swaybars etc.

Have you put any more thought into squeezing some more power out of the engine. Like strapping on one of those intake fans

Should do a 12 or 13 second 1/4mile time. Be an absolute pig to drive, you would have to rev it out to 8500-9000rpm to get decent numbers to at least keep up with mods modified factory turbo cars..spent 10-15k and maybe get a fast fours feature if you change your name to FLAWLS

Or just live with the NA until you sell and buy a turbo.

When my brother was on his Ps, he n my uncle (engine builder/mechanic) did up a (stock 100kw flywheel) NA 1.8 4G93P with regrinded cams, forged oversized pistons, raised compression to 12:1, lightweight flywheel & pulleys, played with AFR, custom extractors into 2.25" exhaust and to managed to get 100kw @ wheels n do mid-low 14s with 2 sec 60ft but only after smashing 2 diffs n 3 driveshafts I the process... After that he realised its not gonna get any quicker n decided to just build a turbo track car...
Everything was done free through favours and being a guinea pig as no1 in Oz did it to a proton/Mitsubishi 4G93P but would have cost at least 5k to do...
End result was quick off the mark due to light weight bcoz racecar strippage but had no top end to keep it going... On the street it would give all the Honda boys a good scare n a few turbos
If u wanna blow 5-10k by all means but that is a lot $$$ that can be saved for a turbo conversion...
Do once n do it right!

We have a FG XR6 as a work ute (Im sure I've told this story before) that we also use as a play thing.
I had it on the dyno running some numbers with the bonnet down and the dyno fan on (car is bog stock).
Opened the bonnet, removed the air filter element and lifted the air filter intake so it would take cold air directly from the dyno fan and it made an extra.....wait for it....
..........that's right..........
.......2Kw.
My VS makes an extra 1.5Kw if I fashion a cold air scoop out of cardboard.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
