The problem is they don't clearly tell you what those remunerations are, and between industries it's different, etc.
Let's talk hypothetical about something that may or may not have happened yesterday.
A chef working a 9-5 shift, is living in a house full of full time permanents in hospitality. Between the four of them they read and construe the fair work literature to be as that they cannot be 'forced' as in rostered, to take their unpaid half hour break prior to completing 4 hours of work. This would put the chef in the story right in the middle of kitchen service for lunch, obviously they would not be able to take that break and any time after the fifth hour will be accrued as a penalty rate hour until the break is taken, and even when it is taken, they are then entitled to another 20 minute PAID break before they knock off. Small businesses really get screwed in these deals - so this little group of people are telling this to their employees, so they stay on, don't take the unpaid half hour break, then take a twenty minute paid break, and if it's added up they are owed overtime.
If, however, you read the correct industry related section (which these people in the story did not) an employer in hospitality can send the employee to unpaid meal break after one hour of their starting roster time.
Have to be so bloody careful these days. Especially when you have staff that go home and try and find loopholes and ways to fuckyou over! Nice attitude to have! In this story they received a written warning for basically being a disrespectful bugger that is more motivated to find ways to screw more money out of the employer, than do the job.
''We will make it clear in law that there needs to be additional remuneration for employees who work shift work, unsocial, irregular, unpredictable hours or on weekends and public holidays.''
This is the absolute cherry. If you don't want to work weekends, long weekends, and unpredictable hours - don't

'ing get into hospitality - don't head to the mines if you want to be home for every Christmas - it's not rocket science, rocket scientist get every weekend off.
