Nik, we are 1hr out of Sydney. And Telstra is the only decent provider! The worst!

At least we don't have to run a business on 15 gig though!

That sucks. I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have the net... I mean, I wouldn't die and would adapt, but it makes things SO much easier.

Good morning Simon.

Comparing Internet plans between middle of Sydney and middle of nowhere is useless.

It just goes to show how neglected the country folk are. It's not really fair and with todays technology and what not you'd expect that it'd be in place already. Look at China, the whole bloody country is run on fibre optics.

You realise they've been talking about rural internet being on par with the city since before the first election, yes?

My point is, us 'seven percenters' are going to have upgraded wireless/satellite, right? As far as I understand it, there is NO REASON to not just hook that shit up now, why do we have to wait for the optic fibre to be laid when it's not even coming to us??? We're not bloody getting it anyway - just upgrade the wireless service which is obviously already running at some capacity otherwise I wouldn't be online right naaaoooo.

I am not alone, everyone down here is so frustrated, it's been years and years and years of talk, and no action. Everyone can rabbit on about Abbott being stuck in the past - at least he's not stuck in a dream world - he'd start work straight away. Literally on the first day something would be happening to improve this situation. The fibre optic is only going to people it can get to easily anyway. I mean REAAAALLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYY.

That's on a business plan, which gets written off 50% for business use at tax time though.

Here's a question for math geeks.

If I have a 2.5m steel pole, with a pivot point 66.6cm in from the end, ad a camera attached to the end that weighs 1.5kg, how much weight will I need on the other end to counter balance it?

If I add 1.5kg, I'm guessing because of the off centre pivot point, I'll need more weight? I'm sure there is an equation for this stuff.

Sorry for the rant, but when this topic is getting people's blood boiling at the local bakery/post office/butcher shop every week, you know it's bad. And some people have no concept of just how bad it is! We go DAYS without being able to send and receive emails.

All valid points. And yeah I know about it all man. My dad is a telecommunications engineer. I hear about it all the time.

I agree with the wireless. Fibre optics for the major cities for business and what not (it's already running nowadays from Brisbane to Melbourne I believe), but concentrate on wireless for the country. It'll benefit people so much more.

Dad claims our Internet too. We pay 50%, dads work pays for 50%. :)

We go DAYS without being able to send and receive emails.

And then it could impact the business negatively by having idiots that don't understand write bad reviews about the business.
