What tipped me off is the brz/ft86 has air intake from the front of the manifold not the rear....

Usually with a hoist (or jackstands), lots of tools, beer, pizza, blood, sweat and tears. Oh and swear words. Lots of them. Seriously though, the 86 motor (I forgot the code) mounts are the same as the EJ motors. There are some mods required to get an EZ into an EJ bodied car, but it's not the hardest conversion out there. A few cars I know of had had EZ30's put into them, including Tristan's EZ30 powered gen2 with the ability to reel in teh bitchezzz with it's redlining abilitehzz
