We were supposed to have a work bbq for lunch but it's been cancelled because of shit weather.

This place i'm working at now is so weird...it's only like 10 mins from the city but it feels like i'm in the country.

I walked past DUCKS at the front door this morning.....ducks god dammit!

One of our senior credit managers got made redundant today, and just sent out a massive farewell email. I was good mates with him due to his prety heavy involvement in Motor Racing. At the end of his "Goodbye" email, he wrote. 

 

For me personally I enter a time of opportunity where I will be able to "re-invent" myself. At this stage I have no idea what that means - but I'm both nervous and excited by the future. Firstly I'll be taking the opportunity to relax and enjoy more time with friends and family. I'll be better able to indulge my passion for motor racing as well!

 

As many of you know, motorsport is my "thing" - and I take this opportunity to reflect that being a good driver is a skill that is required of all of us - not just racing drivers. Far too many people are injured or killed on our roads purely due to a lack of driver SKILL. Forget the propaganda you read in the media. The simple fact is that being a better skilled driver may well save your life, or the life of someone you care about. I know we often don't think about it, but statistics show that most car accidents happen within 10km of home - so the fact that you "only" drive to the shops or the train station isn't an "excuse" for being underskilled. All the principals we embrace in the path to being successful in what we do at work apply equally to your time on the road. Unless your name is Fernando Alonso we all still have plenty to learn. So invest in yourself - make it a priority to do a defensive driving course. Put it on your IDP.
