I am already insanely keen for a bike... I want a Megelli

I wouldn't bother spending big bucks on your first bike. Get a cheapo just in case you drop it.

Save money for big bike.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

Exactly what I'll be doing shortly as well. I'm not that into bikes that I will spend heaps of money on anyway. I'll be happy with a GSXR.

But can get a Megelli for like $3000....too much?

What would you recommend? Most of the cheap ones are 125cc...

Ninja's are alright. What about a Suzuki GSXR 600?

A few year old GS500 (500cc twin) like mine you can get for 3-4k easy.

250cc bikes are shit, just avoid them.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

So even on LAMS, avoid the 250s?

Go for the 500? You can get that hyosung 650 on LAMS too right?

Hyosung's are actually not bad. I decided on suzuki purely because of the name (and reputation) as the Hyo's are relatively new to the market but still korean built (hyosung) is better than chinese built (megelli)

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

Lol

The frames are made of cheese.
The brakes are made of wishes and pixie dust.
The suspension is largely comprised of hair clips and spirit gum.
The engine requires new hamsters every few thousand clicks.

They're total pieces of atrocious shit. Don't do it.

Buy something Japanese (or even Korean) for another thousand bucks and actually have something worth riding.

Thanks dude... Megelli is out... didn't know it was chinese either...

Will go for the license and stuff first, then start looking at bikes and hopefully by then, will have enough saved for something decent...

Who cares? It's your first bike. Digital = more cost.

It's an unnecessary luxury for a first bike.

You don't need a bike to GET your license.

Get the license then just test ride a brand new one of everything LAMS approved. Ninja 250 or 300, GS500, Hyosung, CB250.

Just see what feels right. Think about the seating position, how it feels on the road, how the weight of the bike feels when you turn....it's all very different for each bike and you won't know you like it till you've ridden it.

Bikes are very different to cars, they are very personal.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.
