That's what I was thinking when I was reading up on it, but I was heading for the trees so that wasn't an option.

I gripped tightly with my knees, pushed forward on the bars and tried to keep the throttle steady.

There's a lot of conflicting opinions on what to do but that seemed to work pretty good for me.

Scary hearing the front tyres screech going side to side.

So I'm hiring a bike next weekend as I'm planning a ride with a few of my mates. No idea where we are headed at the moment although a few of the ideas include National Park, Old Princes Highway, Bulli and Grand Pacific Drive (Sea Cliff Bridge), may be go the opposite way towards the Blue Mountains. Just thought I'd ask a few opinions on the bikes that these guys have available to hire:

  • Triumph Street Triple "R"
    page3-img1.jpg
  • Kawasaki ZX6R
    page3-img8.jpg
  • Yamaha YZF R6
    page3-img2.jpg

It's just gonna be for the weekend ride, that's all. And again, I'm hiring the bike, not buying it.

I'm biased, but if that Street Triple R has the same Arrow exhaust as in that picture, that will sound farking amazing. It makes power very differently to the other two, you won't keep up with the other two in the real high speed stuff but because it makes all its power down low - if you're planning on hitting the twisties, that would def be my choice.

Awesome, thanks for that man. I'm not gonna be giving it too much as it is only a hired bike but that's good to know. I was kinda leaning towards that one as well. I'm pretty sure the Street Triple R and YZF R6 are the same price as well.

Any of those bikes will be fun as hell I guess you just need to decide on more of a street bike or a super sport style bike.

Out of interest, what sort of cost are you talking and what do you get for it? I'd love to come over east one week and hire a bike and ride with you cubts.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I just wanted to get the cheapest one of the three as I'll only be hiring it out for the weekend (may be even one day). I hire my bikes from a place called the Sydney Motorbike Network. I've hired from them twice before and have had no problems whatsoever, and the owner and his wife are good people as well (I'm pretty sure he's Scottish or Irish by the sounds of it). I've also found them to be the cheapest in my area, although the last time I really looked around was a year or two ago.

I was also wrong, the Yamaha YZF R6 is the cheapest of the three so that'll most probably be the one I go for. Click the links for each bike's details and prices:

Wasn't even that dusty, this air filter was brand new, bright blue and freshly oiled yesterday morning

Not bad man. Would've been a good ride.

I've got a few ideas for places (some I already knew of and others I found out from the place I hire my bike from):

  • Old Pacific Highway
  • Royal National Park
  • Old Hume Highway
  • Bells Line of Road (to Blue Mountains)
  • Palm Beach (Northern Beaches/Sydney)
  • McCarr's Creek Road (Northern Beaches/Sydney)
  • Jenolan Caves/Oberon
  • Bathurst/Sofala
  • Snowy Mountains
  • Oxley Highway, Bendemere to Wauchope
  • Kings Highway, Batemans Bay to Bungendore

It's just a matter of how far we wanna go on the day and what not.
