,,

Hey I have an idea you can buy my wreck
You wanted a car to play with

tempting... I did want an engine I could play with and take apart, but no place to keep it, wouldn't be too easy playing with a gen2 suby engine for a beginner

haha.. back in Nam... I saw things man... freaky things.. like Win8... I still have nightmares...

Yeah Commonwhores are thirsty. Couldn't imagine getting like 10 liters per hundred on a long trip.

Rubbish Rob.

My old auto VS with its 3.8lit cast iron lump of a motor and its dumb engine management used to get into the low eights on the highway. I did Melb to Canberra and back to Yass on one tank.

My 3.0lit RB cant get near it. Mid 9's.is about it.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Anything under 10 in an older commodore is a decent achievement, Distance driving.

They are thirsty in traffic though Jase... which is what I used to drive in... I had a 1997 VS Auto as well... was my uni car after I crashed my 1990 VN into a fence when the braques stopped working... LOL!

Used to get about 10.4 average in my VY with mixed driving, but on long trips, I could get it down to about 8.8 I think... 3.8 ecotec engine... not 3.6 alloytec

Yup, my VS would get around 13 to 14 in the city.
No forks were given to achive economy.

The RB sucking 98 work out the same $ overall.

Yeah I know... I prefered the VY to the VZ... headlights look better too... lol.. I liked that teardrop thing... :)

I still want to get one someday... was my trademark car... so maybe I'll get a VY V8 and play with that engine... someday... when I have the space to keep it somewhere... and time to play with it :)

I tried to take it easy on the pedal,  but that thing was so heavy and needed quite a bit to get moving... still not as heavy as the newer cars I'd imagine... anyway, I liked it... kept it for 2 years, but wasn't kind to me on a poor uni student budget and income.. LOL

So true. Economy is not Subaru's strong suit by any stretch of the imagination.
