Dont wanna jump too far ahead but i had a phone call from a lady while i was at the pub and I'm pretty sure I'm heading to a shutdown in QLD for the next month or so.

 

have had 7 weeks off so pretty excited to start making some money again

She wants a copy of my koalafications and is gonna call me tomorrow morning, hope i can still go riding this weekend!

Yo Mark, last night speaking to one of my mates that's a sparky, he also said I should get my riggers tickets. He said he would do it in a heart beat.

 

Starting to look into courses now.

yeah heaps of riggers jobs around. and rigging is the same everywhere, un-like fitting where places want people with experience on certain machines or plant types. even if you don't like it (you'll definitely love the money) its something you've tried.

Yeah man, the money would be wicked, plus something I could definitely fall back onto, I would just have to get out of the comfort zone of having permanent employment, that would be my only draw back.

Honestly, I have never heard a sparky say they would prefer, and earn more money rigging than what they are currently doing, it blew my mind, along with everything else we had.

Seriously, at HVC, once the cruise is over, my car will be staying put where ever we are, and I'll pick it up before we leave.

Yeah it sucks, i haven't had a clue what I'm gonna do for the last 7 weeks as everything changes. and some mates wanted me to go to NZ in july with them but i can't commit to it because i don't know what i'll be doing. It really sucks in that regard especially when every other mate i have that did an apprenticeship got kept on after their time and are on decent money every week. But doing the same stuff every week gets boring. i see all this as a new experiences to help me later in life.  

Their is usually a bit of rigging work in cites on construction. but you don't get paid as good as you would on a mine site etc.

you could always fall back into a part time retail job if you had to? then just bail when a shutdown/contract comes up. if thats the route you wanted to go.

 

It all depends on how you spend your money. i saved a fair bit when i was away. but it paid of because i haven't been paid for 6 weeks, i haven't been living cheaply since i've been home and i still have another month or so left of money before i would have to dip back into my savings.


Not even sure if i'll be home or not for HVC!
