Is there any chance you have a picture of how you wired yours up? All I can find are US guides

Got the Projectors installed and all wired up the day after HVC, wish I had gotten them done before but just ran out of time. After a polish they came up great.

It went well all through the cruise, didn't miss a beat. Surprised up how well it went with such high km's.

Then dad drove it to work yesterday and this happened..

NRMA came and checked it out, no spark from the ignition coil but everything else seems fine. Got a tow to my mechanic who checked through all the possible reason that might cause it. Checked the timing belt... Apparently it has split in two, lucky it's a non-interference engine.

Boy that's unlucky. Going to play the devil's advocate here, I think only the phase 1 22 is non interference. Yours could/should be phase 2. Valves won't have met valves but they could have met pistons. Hopefully I'm wrong

Replace the timing belt, cringe, bite your lip and try to turn it over!

Sucks. Luckily 2.2's are cheap if required.

This. Or you could put a borescope down a spark plug hole maybe

Got a new timing belt going to today so will know if I need a new engine by this afternoon, looks to be a few around but haven't done some real searching. When it snapped he didn't hear any noises or notice any sudden problems. He was going down Roseville bridge when it happened, shifted to 5th put his foot on the accelerator and nothing happened.

Looks like Marco owes you an engine :D

It is my car and he's only driving it because I can't legally drive it for now. Could ask to go halves

Lucky it didn't break on hvc!

If it did there would have been 100 subaru experts standing around to diagnose it and could probably fit it at harrigans haha

Very lucky it didn't happen at HVC, even with all the experts it still would've been hard to get home. I should have checked it when I first got the car, just plain forgot about it and whenever I remembered I got distracted.. Timing belt snapped in two and mashed the valves on the drivers side just enough so they don't close anymore.

Limped the car back from the mechanic's last night and got started on taking everything apart. 3 Hours later we had both heads off ready to be sent out to a heads specialist to be hopefully fixed.

Now I'm up to cleaning everything and getting ready to get the heads back.

Piston's have a very small mark on them on the top, should be able to smooth them out as they are very small. I like pulling this engine apart more than the gen1, there's are a few small changes that make it so much easier. It must've only just touched by the looks of the valves, I don't think it's enough to damage anything in the block

Just a heads up... new heads from a donor engine will be cheaper than getting your fixed..
and they are dime a dozen at the wreckers.. thats what i would be doing ;)
