Very interesting.

My engine overheated and the head gasket is screwed. Stretched timing belt as well. I currently have the engine for sale as there are still quite a few bits that people can take advantage of (or replace the head gasket and have a functioning engine).

Sucks to hear about your own going boom though.

Wanting to buy/looking for: single genuine STi rim, genuine STi front lip, Corazon or Zero/Sports grille and another OEM grille

At the moment it's in sydney at alldrive subaru

They'll build the engine and then tune it to suit

I'm hoping for an extremely safe tune, even if they need to drop the boost and make it richer, just need a reliable car to get me to work everyday and see the Mrs on the weekends haha

Not personally, no. It's just a workshop that's really close by to me. Curious to know how the workmanship and stuff is.

Go and check on my lubey for me pls m8

But seriously, they're haven't even pulled it apart yet, I don't at all know any time frames of what an engine rebuild should be it anything
And the service type stuff after it,

My dad is going down on Wednesday to sus it all out and get a good grasp on what damage has been done and what needs to be replaced

Well soon see,

They said approx 2 weeks though, which sounds good as I need the car to get myself to work as soon as possible :)

I had my old engine taken out and the new one installed including all new housing and a new radiator in less than 12 hours. But that was a private job, not in a workshop like yours is in now.

From my personal experience they seem to charge an arm and a leg for most things..

For example took my car to them just after I got it for a once over, quoted me something like 600 for a second hand rear diff and that wasn't labor either

So yeah just be weary..

They said roughly $7000 for the rebuild and tune but it depends what's reusable

Autocraft here in newcastle wanted $5000 to drop a second hand engine and $6500 for an sti short block installed
And then I'd have to get it retuned ($500-1000)

A full rebuild with a warranty and new tune sounded like a no brainer

They haven't given me a quote yet technically so if it seems over the top when they do I can still take my broken ass pulled apart shit elsewhere haha

I've heard ICHIban can take quite a while for this sort of stuff, time frame is high on my list

as I said, my dad, a mechanic, is going to sydney on Wednesday and he said he'd check everything out and take me some photos, so if I'm getting screwed he'll know about it

If it all seems too fishy though, ICHIban will be my next point of call

Ah too easy then

But yeah they had my car for what seemed like forever for what I thought wasn't a great deal of work so just be weary, personally I won't use them again
