Anything that comes in with a price declaration near $1k will have customs all over you. I used to have the same problem bringing in parts to build tube audio equipment. suuucks. :(

This.

Well that's shit. Breaking orders up would help, but wouldn't help with multiple shipping prices I assume?

Shipping price is irrelevant Gary, it's the monetary value of the item that is key. If the item/s is over a certain amount it is subject to duty (tax). Hence why you have duty free at airports, as soon as an item enters a country it is subject to that nation's taxation laws. The Govt allows you to purchase items under ~$1000 duty free, but anything above that they will tax.

For a parts order of $1000 you would need to pay $100 GST, ~$46 Duty and a $40 Import Processing Fee. They calculate it on the value of the package, regardless of if it's a group buy or it's separate parts.

ANNNNNYYYYWAY.

I'm liking the progress Rob, reaaaal nice. How much of the white car have you cannibalised?

You can change the value declaration when you order. Dodgy af but. Honestly who'd need $1000 worth of parts unless you're running a business. I spent 700 and that was basically everything I'd ever need

Make sure the manifold is spotless
Use a high heat primer
Put the base coat (the wrinkle) on really thick
Like just keep layering it on

And put it in the sun to bake for a few hours
Ideally you want to put it in an oven or similar
But not everybody can do that

The heat is actually what makes it wrinkle

It's a fairly tough coating but make sure it's had a few days to cure before you resemble the manifold so you don't chip it

When i wrinkled blacked my intercooler piping a few years back I hung it up in the garage and heated it up with a heat gun. I also held the head gun in the end of the piping while I sprayed it and this worked really well. Would also work holding it in the throttle body opening to do an inlet manifold.

When putting the rack in I managed to pull the thread out of the high pressure side

I blame the dicky thread on the hose side lol

Anyway 180 bucks later I was able to get it fixed phew...
A new quick rack was going to be about 500 bucks
So this was a live saver

Got the headers installed, need to relocate a ground cause it was mighty close to the new headers

Haven't got the joiners for the slip joins anymore but I'll just chuck a tack weld between them
Ben at ichiban did this with his 2 door
Should work fine for me

Control arms arrived from Japan :)
Will go nicely with the r180 hubs I've got on order

And here it sits waiting for me to install the turbo tomorrow

Should be able to get most of it back together pending any problems ;)

Lines up perfectly and will clear the cai
Just need to trim down the straight bit of pipe

Alright so well needed update

Exhaust has been welded up
Mrt 3 inch muffler on the end, headers are leaking like a siv at the slip joins so that's annoying need to deal with that shortly
