10 months?!  That's insane...

I guess patience pays off!

And looking at your pics from the paint shop I would really love a stock set of rims for my RS - I'll have to wait for a set to pop up and for the bank account to recover from recent (and upcoming) build costs...

I'm looking forward to the in-depth update ;)

Cheers

Bennie

Thanks Bennie, yeah it's great to have it back...

I have some standard rims that I was planning to keep but I know of some that were just going to get thrown out if you want me to try and save them for you. Let me know if you want me to see if I can save them and store them for you..

Big update coming soon....

Nice. :)

I may have missed it prior but what's the plan for the car? Original spec or a few tasteful mods?

Thanks Mark...

Have a few little tasteful mods planned....

I will list a few in the big update coming after my working weekend....

Right finally getting around to that update.....

Anyway it all kind of happened pretty quickly in the end as my mate Ben has left Cardiff Auto now, won't go into that to much...

So the car had to be out of there in a week and as I had night shift for the start of the week that left two days to get it done which ended up being three in the end as I took the Friday off from work.....

A big thanks to Cameron at Cardiff Auto as he was a big help with getting the motor out and then back in...

So on the Wednesday i went in and did a bit of work on the motor from Matt as he mentioned there was a bit of a leak from one of the rocker covers so I pulled them down and threw new gaskets on them, also gave everything a check over...

Sorry bout the phone pics...

Also while it was at this stage We put a new rear main seal on, a seal where the oil cooler/filter meets the block and a new oil filter, New Platinum plugs and ignitor on coil on plug as well....

So that was Wednesday....

Thursday was time for the motor to come out in prep for the other one to be dropped in, all this work had to be done before 8am as that's when Cameron had to do his normal work so we had a couple of early starts...

So we organised to start at 6 but when i got there Cameron had already been there since about 5 and almost had the motor out.....

Attached File  IMG_1606.jpg   120.28KB   4 downloads

With the old motor out we put the freshly machined flywheel and clutch on and dropped the new motor in....

Attached File  IMG_1608.jpg   164.37KB   4 downloads

Then we had to push it to the side as time was up, but it was now my time to do the ignitor delete ready for the start up...

Grabbed a 6 pin Deutsch plug from work and did the job hoping i got it right, time would tell......

Attached File  IMG_1607.jpg   176.61KB   4 downloads

That was Thursday over and done wth....

So Friday rolled around and the pressure was on to get it done by 8am...

Had a another early start and got everything bolted up fresh Delvac and other fluilds in and was time to give it a turn over so we left the plugs disconnected and gave it a few turn overs to get that fresh oil around the motor, it sounded like it had good compression....

So now it was time to give it a fire so we plugged everything back in..moment of truth on my wiring job....It fired up pretty much first go and was sitting there idling with no props so Cameron backed it out at took it for a little run and gave it a brake test for the blues slip...

at this point I was rather happy as you could imagine to finally see it running you couldn't wipe the smile off my face, Cameron came back an said it was running well with the VF34 and it just wants to go.....

All this finished at about 8am....right on time, was a big few mornings so all that was left for the day was to get it all rego'd and insured....

So then she was finally home.....

Attached File  IMG_0610.jpg   278.28KB   4 downloads

I have been just tiding up a few things on her as i need to save up for a tune when I put the Power FC in as well as a few other bits and pieces..... The front A pillar sill moulds were looking a bit ordinary so I gave them a freshen up.....

Before....

Attached File  IMG_1616.jpg   136.29KB   4 downloads

After....

Attached File  IMG_1618.jpg   178.27KB   4 downloads

That's about it for now, Hope I haven't bored you guys to much.....

So now I'm just plodding along tiding a few things up, I have a few things to put in her like PFC, Larger injectors, Bigger fuel pump, Coilovers, 4+2 pots, WRX interior, Front mount and just a general freshen up..

That's it let me know what you think....

Moto.....

Good job mate!  You're a fair few steps ahead of me!

I've sprayed up my wiper blades... yet to fit them!  And good effort on the early mornings - it'd beat heading into work early for a change (but not for your mate I guess!).

Your RS looks awesome, so can't wait to have mine going!

At what revs does the VF34 want to take off from?

Cheers

Bennie

Once tuned should be a fair bit more responsive

Most people with a 34 see full boost before 4K

Nice work.

I'd love to have the VF34P20 and STi 5 speed I had in my Gen2 in the Gen3. Just a nice daily combination.

Well I think I might have found the culprit for my power steering fluid.....

Attached File  IMG_1629.JPG   191.74KB   6 downloads

This little hose was loose, so I tightened it up and the fluid leakage seems to have stopped.....

What sort of power steering fluid is everyone running....

Next thing to do is replace the front right drive shaft, so I may as well throw the coilovers in as well....

Yeah I hope it was just that hose, I plan on swapping the steering rack but just not yet.

Will be sure to take a couple of pics of the process...

Well another little update...

Started the tidy up of the engine bay still lots to go but the top of the radiator and the supports that go to the front they were bugging me so I stripped it back and gave it a fresh coat of paint....

Before...

Attached File  IMG_1611.jpg   131.84KB   5 downloads

After...

Attached File  IMG_1631.JPG   140.25KB   5 downloads

Also needed to change the right front drive shaft as it was shot, while I was there I put the front coilovers, The drive shaft was a pretty easy job and the coilovers went in well too....

Some pics....

Attached File  IMG_1633.JPG   121.46KB   5 downloadsAttached File  IMG_1635.JPG   169.58KB   7 downloadsAttached File  IMG_1636.JPG   112.08KB   7 downloadsAttached File  IMG_1637.JPG   93.86KB   7 downloads

So next I will attack the rear coilovers, and i throw the bigger fuel pump in while i'm there....

Anyway that's it for now.....
