I'm not doubting the ability to extract crazy out of it - it's built tough - but it all comes down to financial constraints (or lack thereof).
Sure, nothing stopping me from having bought a 3RB and slapping on a K2 supercharger on it, best of both worlds, but that's going too far down the path of "don't do forced induction on a car that doesn't have forced induction to start with".

That's like seeing the 400hp Hyundai Excels - respect but meh, not my cup of tea.

EZ is a much better designed motor than the EJ. Comes with 20+ years worth of engineering and plenty of Porsche input. If you know what to do, you can pull quite good results out of them (there is more to life than kW and peak power).

Superchargers - for the most part - belong in another era.

(there is more to life than kW and peak power)

That's not what all the dyno queens say these days

but agreed - where the torque curve falls in the power band is more important than power. One of the reasons why I didn't brag and post in much detail in my OpenECU tune, because it doesn't sound great (only 10kW peak gain) but the driveability is totally different.

Just out of curiosity... what was done to achieve 700hp from the EZ30?

Nothing.
That particular example is still sitting in a garage somewhere doing nothing.
There is another example floating around in Brisbane in a car and working well and producing just under 400 ATW.
As Tony Montana would say:
In this country, you gotta make the money first.
Then when you get the money, you get the power.
Then when you get the power, then you get the women.

Everything required to take an EJ2XX to 400+kW.

Nothing.

That EZ didn't make 700. It has been in a car and ready to be tuned for 12 months (I think 12). Az just needs to pay ze money and ze tune.

I know of one that has, though. :)

Your chasing sh!t up hill comparing an NA with a Forced induction. My comparison was between the ability of the 3.0R NA and the 2.0T GT. Fairly similar peak output quote's. But the 3.0R will have bucket loads more bottom end and mid range torque. Which surely can be improved apon.

Stock for stock yes, but what I mean is the ability to extract power out of it. Dollar for dollar, a 2.0T will give you more gains compared to if you threw the same amount of money at the 3.0R.

... I think we're all comparing different things. <_<

In the same note Dollar for dollar. If you spend $11tybillion on a 2.0t, you wont make as much power as you would with a 3.0r. So its a pointless argument really.
