Let me start this by saying 86=BRZ.

So... my wife didn't like driving the Forester around the city. My plan was to buy a runabout for us and a motorbike for myself. Went to Toyota to buy a Corolla back in June, wife said no, wife saw 86, sat in it, long story short I ordered an 86.

Car is fun.

This car handles well out of the factory so I just wanted to complement the handling with some quality parts. A lot of kids blindly go down the hella flush route with these cars, my overall goal is to have it look OEM+.

I like it. Mad colour too now that I can see it on my computer. Rims match very nicely as well. *insert generic centre cap comment* ;)

Have you got a pic of the taillights by any chance?

Nice. I did consider 86. Even the girlfriend was on board (she pointed them out in traffic). But we carry passengers often and I'd probably miss boost. So I just went with the sedan.

Yeah. Passengers are a thing of the past. Rear seats are for decoration.

So....

Up to about 17,500kms so far.

Mods so far;

  1. Had wheels resprayed, with new genuine centre caps added. In two minds about wheels, whether to go with some adapters to push them out to flush a bit more, or to switch to a 17x9 setup to give me more sidewall. Struggling to find wheels that come close to the ~7kg these weigh in at.
  2. SME EL Catless headers. Had the car tuned for these as well by IXA, really gave it a bit more bark and power. It hits really well up top past 4500rpm but I'm rarely up there driving around in 50-60km/h zones. Was tossing up to go UEL but I like the uniqueness of the EL, plus the efficiency.
  3. Xforce Header back exhaust. Got this dirt cheap, goes well, looking at swapping out the ultra-resonated front pipe for something more aggressive with a high flow cat.
  4. HT Autos side skirts and rear pods. Look perty.
  5. 18% tint all round, best mod by far, especially on these hot days.

Still have to install Eibach Sportline springs, and Whiteline goodies.

Looking at getting some track pads soon, was going to go down the path of a 4/2 pot conversion, still might but not for a while.

Currently chasing a decent looking font lip/splitter. I've bought 2 so far but both were shit, thinking of just a nice aggressive splitter to get some more aero for hillclimbing.

Was hoping to have the car ready for a Hillclimb by now, but life got in the way. It could easily compete as is, but needs the springs and a good alignment to get the most out of it.

And boosting it is always an option, but can't justify the expense at the moment. I think once I'm able to just keep it as a Sunday driver it'll get a snail.

So,

Eibach Sportline springs went in, as did the rear 18mm Whiteline sway bar.

Still working some adjustments out until it sits pretty, currently on medium setting which is about 174% of OEM stiffness, might wind it back. Also need to sort out spacers for my Kartboy rear endlinks as the OEM endlinks don't look up to the job.

Next up will be front 24mm Whiteline sway bar with endlinks sometime this week.

Car was also aligned, but some more tweaking required. Once all parts are on should be a trip to get it all dialled in, most likely Heasmans as it is a club sponsor, but am toying with idea of making the trip to R2R.

I installed some bolt-on hubcentric wheel spacers as well, to push the wheels out a tad. Running 25mm in front and 35mm in rear, soon to be 25mm rear as well. These allow me to run higher offset OEM Subaru wheels for events, and as they are CAMS legal I can benefit from added track width without going with heavier wheels. Plan to get some 17x8 ET48 2011 WRX wheels with 245/40R17 sticky tyres. Currently sitting on 18x7 225/40R18 Superleggeras.

Next up is getting the 5th Superleggera kitted out with a tyre so I have a full size spare. Might need some custom fabrication in boot to ensure it all fits without adding too much weight.

Just hit 20,000km, and only had the car 14months, she has done some kms. 2018 will be quiet apart from when I make Ty cry in the mountains.

I would only bother upgrading the front brakes m8, front only 4 pots are cheap as now, or maybe gen4 GT/H6 front brakes also.

This car really suits your wife now, looks great.
