The Scarles kit requires you to keep the original TMIC inlet:

You just unbolt it from your top mount, it's a B4 specific piece.

HAHA! I have had this kit for a few years now.Sounds like you had the same probs as i did

I used a 600x250x75 core intercooler had to customise the cold side piece of the intercooler! Also moved the BOV to the other side of the pipe and plumbed back in!

Autobarn spec coolant bottle fits between the headlight and the battery if the battery is pushed back and to the gaurd as far as it will go!

I have gone single now just modified from the turbo to suit

NO REGRETS

CONS... the time and effort and cost(aftermarket top mounts arent cheap either, and can be a c@#* to put on)

Pros... Less heat soak = more powa!

runs cooler intake temp = more powa!

handles more boost than standard = more powa!

see where i am going... Plus looks Pimpin!

on top of that it is so much easier to work on !

after some hard driving you couldnt touch the top mount but the front mount is chilled to touch on the cold side!

Most go for the 800x600x76 with 3" in/out. That size is probably a bit overkill so something smaller would be okay. I used a (I think) 550x280x65 2" in/out on my old Gen1 as it was a bit more compact but still a good size, had intentions of using it on my Gen2 GTB as well.

sorry to drag up an old thread, but i'm considering using the Scarles piping kit to assist with putting a front mount on my B4. i'm trying to work out the biggest intercooler i can fit without cutting the crash bar. it looks like 500x180 has been mentioned a few times. has anyone done exactly this? if so, is this one from justjap what you used? are there any other gotchas?

thanks.

Hey mate can confirm 180mm is ideal for if you don't wanna cut your front bar reo. Took off my bumper and did measurement today

A jdm reo will solve all your issues as it has no giant beam of a crash bar lol

So visually looks like nothing at all has been removed to fit the cooler :)

Thanks PeeKay. Would you mind posting a few other pictures too, including what you've done for the inlet? the annoying thing about the scarles kit is that it uses the same spot most aftermarket CAIs use, so you need to come up with something else.

Reo Must be a Rev A - C thing? Rev D JDM reo looks identical to the above pic albeit without the centre removed.

Here's a couple of not so great shots of an A-C JDM front -- is the reo missing, or is there basically no horizontal crash bar apart from that thin upper lip?

That's all it is Dunc.

Did your halfcut have an extra factory chassis brace? Mine has a big chunky bar that runs across just under the horns.
