what if I run a rear strut brace and drill and bolt into that?

I wouldn't.
Drilling the brace will weaken it. They are also designed to deal with a compressive/tensile force, not a bending one.

For the top mount I would use a section of thick flat bar (such as 65x6) drill a 1/2" clearance hole in it and weld a 1/2" UNF nut to it. Mount this under the parcel shelf (urethane is good for this) and mount the top harness to that using a 1/2"UNF grade 8 bolt (I assume the harness mount has a hole around this size). Make sure the bar is long enough to distribute any load. You may need to machine a spacer to allow for the distace between the parcel shelf panel and the trim above it.

Can you use the lower seatbelt mounts for the harness as well? If so, use longer bolts to allow for the extra metal on the harness mount.

If I recall, seatbelts use a standard imperial bolt (even in metric cars) so make sure you use ones with the correct thread diameter/pitch.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Hey jase having a look at it now, pretty sure I've got it right now.
for the left seat mount it uses a different bolt to the right side, the oem bolt used matches the one supplied with the belt. The seat belt latch is mounted of the seat so Im leaving the left side as is.

For the right hand side I've put the belt bracket into the same bolt as the seatbelt uses. Which I'm much happier with. And I did put the seat bolt back in ;)

The rear I'm fairly sure I can get away with using the centre seat belt bolt

Here's a drawing that come with the harness

The rear seatbelt mount should be within the 20degrees allowed. It looks like it's off centre alot more in the pic then it actually does.

Definite improvement!

So long as all the orig belts are still mounted and working as OEM I'd call it a win.

After replacing the home brand rubber bands I had with some potenza Re-11's I thought I might help Iain fund his engine build by, buying the cusco 22mm sway bar. Quick search on eBay and I had a cusco 22mm front sway bar on it's way.

Haven't had any intrest in the STI struts and pink springs I have, sitting on the rotting gen1 shell so I'll install them and muck around with some spacers in the strut top to get a nice comfortable ride height.

id strongly recomend putting the sti struts in the car, its what i now have and after a OPH run on the weekend, the handle so so well.

also, what size is your stock rear sway bar?

Mark, if you haven't regreased those STi struts, I'd do that before putting them in the car.
The shit grease (more like bees wax...) in them from factory makes me sad.

At xmas time i got a cracked rim, after getting it repaired it cracked not long after right ontop of the weld. Ive been on the hunt for new rims to run my potenzas on.

Ended up with some genuine Rays 57optimise rims in black. But i wouldnt mind getting them repainted in a shade of charcoal

Just need to get myself some center caps and new wheel nuts/lock nuts. Any recomend anything?
