Yup, its that metallic window tint which cuts the UV rays and does not much else. Its not that Privacy glass that Subaru do as standard is it?
My gen2 has that.
Useless.
I wouldn't care so much, its just that it costs an extra $60 to strip the tint.

The seats are much better than those in the Gen2 as you know. But that tan leather is a bit in your face compared to the subtle dark grey/black combo I had in my RX. I did just manage to stumble upon some cupholders I never knew existed in the back, so that was a nice treat.Looks very nice mate! Bet it looks the goods with your plates on too!
Argh you got an arm rest in the back seat!
Hows the tan leather? Ah the memories!
Noticed there is no dual range though - or is that a manual-only feature?
Dual range is a manual-only thing on these cars I believe.

1. Replaced factory tint with 22% all round
2. Replaced interior and licence plate light bulbs with LEDs
3. Had Rhino alarm + 3/3 point immobiliser installed
4. Put old rego plates on

My only gripe so far has to do with the engine + gearbox as a combo. Firstly, whilst the engine develops a healthy power output of 154KW, its all up at the top end of the rev range which doesn't make it all that accessible. Low down there isn't an aweful lot of power and off the mark I think my old RX was almost as brisk because whatever little power it had (115KW) was available at lower RPM.
The gearbox has this obsession with finding top gear as soon as I lift off the throttle. This means the engine is practically sleeping half the time (~1000 RPM) and hence I've got little in-gear torque to overtake unless it kicks back a gear. Kinda defeats the purpose of having a big-ish 3.0L in the first place. I'm getting use to it but I feel the best way to overcome this is by a tune.
In the short term - I'm going to get a K&N air filter hopefully next week.
In addition to this, I've located a set of replacement front seats at a wrecker, so I might get them next week as my front seats are looking a bit worse for wear.

Well I was talking to Paul (TwinTurboSubaru) at our local meet the other night and he has a Gen4 with the H6. He mentioned how I might be able to adjust (to an extent) all those sorts of characteristics with a tune or aftermarket ECU. Probs the later...Hi,
Is a tune really likely to change the shift points/behaviour of the box?
Cheers,
Nik
My memory fails me, but could someone provide me some insight into this? I know an aftermarket ECU is pricey but it would be worth it in the long-term.

No thanks Shane, my woodgrain is in good condition so no need to replace as yet.
And if you were to upgrade you would upgrade to the AUDM B4 brushed aluminium look trimmings, that stuff shits all over the JDM model.
