If there's a fairly stock peanut STi he'd be interested.
Bugeye's are also a bit old - going from a 2003 Mini hes wanting something newer.
I think mums car has the elec throttle. Pain in the butt in an auto but manual should be ok?
Still yet to test drive any though

nothing wrong with teh drive by wire throttle. if anything i find it more response, however mine is tuned so you are able to much around the throttle angles for foot position.

2.5 is epic, the best upgrade for a turbo subaru fullstop. i've spent fugg all on mine and it is a freakin rocket, so much torque from down low and pulls to redline and this is on a turbo rated at 440hp.

drive one, will sell you straight away.

rubbish that wrx's aren't fast. $10k extra is a fair bit of coin, simple mods make the wrx quicker than the sti in a jiffy :)

Hi,

Simple fact is a WRX/STI Imp. is not a good looking car, or something I would consider remarkably fun for someone nearly fifty years of age. As previously mentioned, Captain Morgan has one of the faster road going machines already in the stable. Why compromise on getting something truly timeless and cool for the sake of having a pocket rocket? Doesn't make sense to me.

I would be looking at late seventies 911's - but that's just me.

And, if you think I'm full of crap;

Hey Nik late 70s Porka would be sweet but looking for something newer at the moment. No set structure to what he's getting. Take it as it comes. Any suggestions are of course welcome :)

Hi, Alex, it depends what you want out of the vehicle. If I get a late 70's P-car... ...oh wait, I just remembered this thread isn't about me. Cheers, Nik

I use to think the same thing (buy a rex and mod it) but the truth is, faster isn't always better. It's how all those little things a wrx is missing (brembo's, 6spd, DCCD, steering rack, suspension etc) come together that make it a better.... the STi doesn't NEED to modded.
2.5 isn't THAT much better IMO.

Bang for buck.... STi.

Take one for a test drive. Do it.

kthx.

Agree.

Did.

I myself would never buy a WRX without it being in STi form, they are just better, everything is better. Even if the Rex is heavily modded. I have driven both a Peanut and Pig STi and to be honest the 2.5 isn't much better, if it's better at all. But both are amazing packages straight from the factory. Everyone says they are fast cars, but until you actually drive one you just don't realise how bloody quick they actually are!

Hey Nik, late 70s Porsche were the exact words that came out of dads mouth when i asked what else he is interested in.
He's after a variety of different cars. No set structure to what he's getting. Take it as it comes. Any suggestions are of course welcome :)

Suggestion? Talk him out of the Porsche. It will spend all of his money, and he'll never get to drive it.

He'll look good sitting in the driveway though :P Take Alex's advice and get him in a nice modern, reliable STi.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

But for the extra 500cc you expect more, but it's a very very minor difference. (in stock form)

I'll go the other way Tom.
I did not like the Pig STi (unmodded) for the street.
Power delivery is not as linear as a WRX, ratios a bit too close. As a result I found it difficult to drive slowly. To me a WRX makes a better all round street package, eaiser to live with IMO.

On the track.....STi all the way.
Would have to be a weapon.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
