Hey I'm installing a kartboy short shifter atm, one question exactly how much effort does it typically take to knock it into the socket?

Cheers,
Myles.

I just kept bashing till it popped :P

But I've since found out the correct method is to take out the spring washer and you can pull the whole socket out.

This way, it's easier to re-grease it up

This whole thread is just R rated lol

Morgs, so that one is adjustable yeah?

I been trying to find one but can only find the cheap non adjustable types..

Any idea where to pick one up? GFB ones are a bit overkill for me.

Try Ultrex. Picked up one for dads 09 WRX for $120 delivered when all the others were $200+ and he loves it.

Mine isn't adjustable but I like it. Second hand so I'm not complaining!

Are the $50 ones of eBay for a 02-06 impreza suitable and worth it for me? They look just like Morgans adjust. one but non adjust. and straight.

Haha yeah, we ended up using a metal mallet and a small tube of steel, transfers the force alot easier.

Was good fun, short shifting fun here I come thanks for this dyi real handy.

If you've done it the same way Morgan did, you'll just need to use a bit of force and it will go back in. Check that you're trying to put it back in at the same angle it came out.

Otherwise, if you read above, Morgan said there is an easier way of doing it:

take out the spring washer and you can pull the whole socket out.

Thanks Jordan. I read the instructions again and went with the smack it with a mallet option. Worked nicely
