Shazz wtf? do you mean the 11th - 13th of march or 11th December 2013??? I'm assuming the first option lol otherwise i would come up and do the bloody conversion for you if you waited that long :P

AGhhhh this is killing me waiting for my cut and seeing you do everything i want to do lol

11/12/13 of March Ty. Hahaha.

No freakin way im waiting that long.

Should of put a silicon under manifold intake in when you had it apart also.

Hey mate,

I was going to do that, but im actually designing a alloy intake which is going to go from turbo inlet to inside the guard.
I've heard the silicone ones can be rather restrictive, and foul on a heap of ****, so i decided to make my own.

I know its gunna be a prick to change, but thats cool.

Cheers,
Shazza

I put up with people from amnesty, red cross and now the cancer council almost daily hounding me!! Throw in the greens, green peace, unhcr, save the forking children and I've well and truly hit my limit for the number of fuckstains wanting me to sign something or give money. Seriously cubts,  :fork: right off.

Next weekend it is. Oh well, least I can go smash piss for my bday.

Shaz. Honestly mate if next week turns out a bit worse for wear or you need a hand let me know.

Been (unfortunately) involved with a few too many conversions and gearbox / motor out jobbies for my own good, so more than happy to swing a spanner or two to help out!

I can even bring me own tools !

Hey Dylan.

I'll let ya know mate. No need to bring tools though, were doing it in a full equipped workeshop, but I'll suss it out, might put on a BBQ and beers whilst the conversion is happening.

Cheers for the offer regardless. I think I might rip the engine and box out next Friday night, and then start the dash/loom early saturday.

Cheers,
Shazza

So I was driving today and noticed a horrid noise coming from my drivers side wheel, which sounded like a telegraph pole wedged in my brakes.

Took it upto the workshop, pulled the wheel off, and the caliper on the drivers side has seized shut!

Long story short, replacing both calipers, and rotors with the STi items that came on the half cut tomorrow, so I'll chuck some pics up.

Unfortunately, they aren't 4 pots though because they were "taken off in japan" according to Ichiban. But they are massive rotors and much bigger calipers then what I have, so I'm not really THAT fussed. My mate has a set of bug eye 4 pot fronts and 2 pot rears, with brand new EBC pads which he said he will sell for $1k

Whadyas think?

Cheers,
Shazza

i know you said that the 4 pots were removed, but the replacements aren't STI unfortunately mate. GC8 sti's had 4 pots which changed to brembos for the V7 STI's. Early GC8 wrx had the same 277mm rotors that came on the gen 3 rx so it they are larger than the ones you've got they're i'm thinking they could be 294mm V6 standard wrx (before they changed to 4pots) or 295mm from Legacy RSK/GT/GTB, later model forester or 316mm from gen 4 liberty GT (i'm sure i've missed some but you get the idea). Measure the disc and it'll be easier to narrow down what they're from. Either way, those are all decent set ups and better than what you've got. depending one which ones they are, 4/2 pot upgrade might not be necessary

Regard less of the calipers if the mean rotor diameter (average between min dia and max dia) is larger than what you have, it will be a win.

From what I have read and as far as I can work out, 4 pots will not increase clamping force as there is a similar amount of pressure applied to the pads due to the piston area being roughly the same.

Increased piston area would require a master with a larger bore size to displace enough fluid but will lead to greater pedal effort to generate the same line pressure, so you would need a higher booster ratio to overcome this.

I would go twin pots with the larger diameter rotors.

edit: agree with fishman.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Yeah I know the replacements aren't STi items. They appear to be just standard wrx ones. But either way, they're heaps bigger then the ones I have on now, and because the caliper seized, the rotor on my car is ****** now anyway. So it's a win win.

Yeah, I don't particulary want to pay 1k for 4 pots, I reckon these bigger rotors + calipers will do the job just fine.

Cheers,
Shazza

yeah exactly mate, either way they'll be much better than what your running now!

out of interest, does the set up your mate's selling come with rear 2 pot dogbones for fitting the rear calipers to liberty/old wrx? if not, $1000 is a lot.

i was looking to sell my brake set up with 4pot front, avo front dogbones to run upgraded 330mm rotors, slotted 330mm rotors, standard 295mm rotors, bendix ulitmates, 2 pot rear, kart boy rear dogbones, ebc pads, standard rear rotors and an extra set of galfer group n/track pads for $1200

No idea man.

He just told me he'll fit them to my car, with brand new EBC green pads, for $1k.

Not bad I suppose, considering they are fitted?

hmm personally i wouldn't be spending $1000 on that set up. you should be able to get 4pots for $350 with pads and rotors, rear 2 pots for $250 with pads and rotors, dogbones $175 + whatever NEW pads you want (if the old ones need replacing). fit them yourself and save a couple of hundred = win

the upgraded set up you got with the cut sounds like it'll be more than ample and you'll still have $1000 in your pocket...

that's a lot of drinks at the arms ;)

Yeah, I reckon I'll be happy with the wrx brakes. It's not like I'm doing any serious track work, my cars only a work hack

$1000 will get you 3 schooners at the arms. Hahaha.
