Ever since i had my gen1 wagon i've wanted to do a turbo conversion to one. or buy one.

I ended up giving up on my wagon, and then giving up on the second. One got cut in half and sent to the scrap metal place
Posted Image

The other i parted of with the legacy body parts i'd bought and now its sitting in the backyard.

I pondered with the idea of still converting it, but decided against it and to just buy a bugeye STI before the end of the year. I seen this car on wednesday night and pondered with the idea of making it a track car/rally/thrash around car. I figure im better of keeping my RS impreza as a daily, and using this wagon for fun. So after a few txt msgs we agreed on a price, Cheaper to buy this then it was some coilovers i was about to order, so why not! The next day Grant (KNG02L) and myself got a one way train ticket to go pick it up. After the hecktic sydney traffic, boring F3 drive we got the car to my mum's place in Kurri Kurri, Dad's place is already full of cars and boats :P

Here's some pics of the nugget

about all it was good for

Posted Image

Went through the car and found a few this
Posted Image

The Car is a 1991 Liberty GX Registerd/engineered as a turbo conversion.

ENGINE
EJ20R twin turbp
Auto T5 ECU
3" pipe to a cannon for an exhaust
Found a receipt for a "500HP fuel pump"

Driveline
5 speed 3.9 ratio box and diff
Farked clutch

Handling
STI Red struts with STI pink springs
Rest is stock

Brakes
two pot 277m brakes upfront
Stock Rear

Other stuff
Has a headunit that has ipod connect and AUX inpit
Drift boost gauge
Bird catcher for a bonnet scoop

The plan for it was to fix up the TT and thrash it, after looking carefully it appears a 14yr kid doing work experience must have made the loom up and theirs a billion hoses and **** and loose wires through the engine bay.

So basically i'll be converting it to single turbo as soon as i can afford it with a FMIC, upgrading to 4pot front/2 pot rear brakes, replacing a farkload of bushes, getting an STI 2.7 quick rack, F&R sway bars, installing some rexy seats, and replacing the NA box when it breaks with a 4.44 rato one. and probably a few other things here and there.

All the work will be done by myself and mates, either in the dads garage or under mum's carpot, or on the side of the road :P

So it looks like im gonna spend a bit more $$ then i thought i would two days ago. But it's something i've always wanted to do. It's not gonna be fun to do all the work, but it'll be good working with mates and then thrashing it and not worrying about it needing to drive me anywhere :)

If anyones got any info/links about the TT to T conversion or Usefull advice on parts and shiz please let me know :)

To start of today i replaced the shifter bushes with spares, an STI short shifter is kindly be donated to the build and will installed in the next few days, i adjusted the cable clutch so now the clutch doesn't slip as much and is much more driveable, had a good look under the car and what im up against, and found the ECU and tried to follow some wiring to understand what it does.

Haha will be interested to see how this pans out!

Had a few issues when Tristan got it. Hopefully you will be able to iron them out and get it working up to scratch.

yeah im pretty keen for some boooost.

Grants running a TD05-16G in his RS on 15-16psi and i'll be happy if i can get this wagon on par with that, Grant also mentioned something about a VF23 or 24. So i'm not real sure. I haven't had much time to do any reasearch yet either.

Whats under the covers in the background? more details, work in progress?

As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;

"My eye is watering, this might be a bit hot"

I should just convert to single, right?

Was wondering if anyone would spot that, its a HG monaro (i think) dad bought decades ago, was in mint condition, he just wanted the motor from it, then it sat in the back yard and has nearly rusted itself to bits. Its too far gone to be restored now, but theirs a few things on it dad wants to keep for his HT monaro when he restores that.

Sweet! do you have a NA clutch? or driveshaft? a found two ripped boots one front one rear

Its just a GT motor and yeah looks like a GX box, without the hi/lo range and a 3.9 on the diff. Its a frankstein of subarus

I want pics of this HT stat!!! lol

pity about the HG though, that shape (HG/HT) is by far my favourite holden

Oh and nice work with the wags, looks like some elbow grease will be needed, however should come up nice.

Congrats on the new acquisition Mark!

If you get this thing all sorted, you'll be all smiles on the track :D

Hopefully it isn't too difficult to sort out those issues with the engine. If its a GT motor like you say it is, then its not an EJ20R like listed. I recall this car liking to crab sideways when driving in a straight line. Might wanna check that out as well, but if its a track hack, go mental have fun with it!!!

I think, for the reason you bought it for, and the price I imagine you got it for, that this has been a good turn for you.

Like I told you before, BRIGHT ORANGE TRACK WHEELS!

And good luck mate, keeping the turbo for track and the more economical RS for daily is tops in my books. Would have been a shame to see you daily drive a STI.

If thy tint is dark and thy wheels are black thou car be declared b11tchin'

So you can run it on 6psi with an rx fuel pump? :P

Cheers shiv! ah okay then, im going to check out the car again today so i'll have a good look at the engine and try get some numbers. Yeah the whole rear end pretty much needs new bushes, lucky for me about 20,000km before i stopped driving my gen1 i did a C link conversion to the rear end with all new bushes, so it's just a matter of swaping it all over ;) then upgrading sway bar and sway bar links, maybe the lateral arms aswell.

If i can get the single conversion done for under $1500-$2000 i'll be happy pricewise :) I've sent Al at AMauto's a msg about the loom and parts and i'll see what he says. He'll be the only person touching this loom with wire cutters and electrical tape.

LATER ON when the driveline is sorted i'll need something for the skidpan, so maybe orange :P

Have a quickrack of an 05 STI to try fit, alloy control arms of an 05 STI, and an STI steering wheel, of an 05 sti :P

Finally.

The wagon is being put to good use!

Congrats on the purchase!

It doesn't appear to be a GTB/EJ20R as it has the GT four plug ECU.

But not a bad start to say the least!

Convert to single turbo for maximum win!
