Sounds more complicated than its worth... If it was straight plug n play worth every cent...

Nah mate no updates. Been down the snow for the past 2 weeks... Im just going to wire it up normally, no auto function as a cbf these days.

On another note, while I was away, had my mechanic look at an oil leak that I couldnt find the source, end up being the oil cooler but that bad news is whilst running in engine looking for the leak heard a slight knock.. Start of a bearing fail  :negative:

So Im on the hunt for a built 257 or getting one built... Research research research... Or cut my losses, sell up let the next person deal with it and start fresh on a newer model...

Damn bad news! I have a similar problem at the moment just about to reveal my oil cooler, it's such a hard decision to make

As some off you know I got some bad news of a very quiet knock coming from the bottom end in other words bearing failure is near...

Im trying to way out my options, and cant seem to figure out what to do... I have the cash for all options but

Ascending cheapest to most expensive (Tune is a given)

  1. 2nd hand early XT engine (low km if i can find one) - Do the usual timing belt and service $5000 plus tune)
  2. Get this donk http://www.ebay.com....=item58ce048af4 - Do the usual timing belt and service
  3. Strip my engine and rebuild it with new nirated/heat treated crank, CP/Wiseco Pistons, Manley rods, ACL Race bearing, ACL head studs, TGV Deletes, Killer B pick up machine/cleaning, honing etc min $7000+

    http://m.risingsunsu...com.au/#pricing
  4. Rising Sun option 2 short motor, Killer B pick up ACL head studs, TGV Deletes with my standard heads $8000+
  5. Rising Sun option 3 long motor $9150+

I'm leaning towards option 2 or option 4... Happy with the odd 250kw

Everyone's opinions?

Remembering this will be my daily driver so drivability is a big factor

Cheap SH XTs getting around. Even SJ XTs are getting to the $30k mark.

id go option2 and add the killerb pickup. you will make a decent amount of cash back onselling the stuff you dont need.

Have you put any more thought into squeezing some more power out of the engine. Like strapping on one of those intake fans

Im not sure if it will work with my auto... Essentially same engine just different turbo and TMIC just unsure about wiring... I know with Manual it is plug and play. Tune and go!

How about an STi half cut from a jap importer? With juicy 6 speed and good brakes.

I'm not looking to change out all the wiring and run into extra problems... Also don't have the space to just have a half cut laying around...

I don't have the time, I want something that's going to be straight forward...

If I wanted manual I would just sell what I have and buy another Foz and start again...

ECU wont work being from a Manual but engine is direct plug and play and will use my ECU.

My mechanic is too busy and becoming unreliable so Adrian and Dan from Rumble Shack will be working their magic...

Its virtually a XT EJ255 with stronger internals and STI TMIC and VF41...

Engine arrived at Rumble Shake on Tuesday :yahoo:

All looks good so far... Adrian will start stripping it down on Saturday getting it ready for timing belt change, water pump, rear main, spark plugs, silicone intake, Killer B Pick up & Windage Tray, and some new Techflex Volcano wrap for headers and uppipe..

Car will be dropped off Sunday, will begin stripping down the Foz Tuesday, drop the quicker rack in with a new Superpro roll center kit, then the new donk with my Hyperflow intercooler (STI cooler has already been sold) then hopefully ready to be tuned by the weekend by Dan

Exciting times! :yahoo:
