I also think keeping it open is a good idea. If you want to incorporate every Subaru model, it will take 14years to scroll to the bottom of the page by the time you give them all their own sub forum.

Keep the liberty's in their respectable folders like normal. just have a forester, impreza and tribeca have their own individual threads. I reall hope this place kicks off great. keep the tech stuff alive and coming. no more dribble and we can live happily ever after.

Are we going to break up the front page into GenI, GenII, GenIII and GenIV segments? Potentially it would be better to have the same sub categories under all of the different generations. Know what I mean?

Too many sub categories will kill it. It will look empty all the time. That and for the moment its all Liberties anyway.

There is one, under events like everybody else ! The last thing we need is 4 million forums underneath us, pain in the butt to manage, and just too many places to look for stuff. This forum was designed from day 1 to be for Subaru Enthusiasts, young or old, Gen 1 or Gen 4, Liberty, Leone, Forester, SVX, brumby, whatever. We are all here to enjoy, talk about common things, and go on the odd event or 3. Constructive thoughts are greatly appreciated but lets keep it as simple as possible. We have just added a members gallery, so let's start by getting your rides up there for all to enjoy ! Let's just put a list of sensible suggestions together and go from there. Regards Paul

I think we need a Site Discussion area just for stuff like this. Also I cant tell if anyone is on the forum at any point in time, it's just easier with messaging that way.

The 'board statistics' on the front page has users active in the last 15 mins.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

I was just over at ozcelica and they are also using IP.BOARD.

They had a nice splash page before the login screen came up. I reckon we should do something similar.

Thoughts?

I like the fact they've got a 'noob forum' with the disclaimer
"Have a basic or 'noob' question? Then post it here or else it will end up being moved here"

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

I agree..

I reckon that we should have the following under the forum headings:

Subaru Club Community
-News | latest post
-FAQ's | latest post
-Introductions | lastest post
-n00b questions | lastest post
-Site discussions | latest post
-Off topic/humour | latest post

Model Specific
-Impreza | latest post
-Forester | latest post
-Liberty/Legacy | latest post
-Outback | latest post
-Exiga?? | latest post
-Tribeca | latest post
Other models
-SVX, 360, Brat, Brumby, Fiori, L Series, Leone, Loyale, Vortex, Justy, Baja

Technical
-Engine/Driveline | latest post
-Electronics | latest post
-Body | latest post
-Builds and Projects | latest post
-DIY | latest post

Classifieds
-Subaru Sales only | latest post
-General sales | latest post
-Wanted to buy | latest post

Regional Topics
-NATIONAL | latest post
-ACT | latest post
-NSW | latest post
-NT | latest post
-QLD | latest post
-SA | latest post
-TAS | latest post
-VIC | latest post
-WA | latest post
-Overseas | latest post

At the moment there's no real direction for specific models. In reality, it's just a bunch of liberty boys with a bunch of threads in different spots.
We really ned to have the specific sections of the forums to attract members who own and want to know about their specific models.

Who likes the format above?

Nah.. listing individual models only highlights a lack.. It's going pretty well.. don't really see much need for change..

But on the flip side, where's the motivation for someone with one of those models to come and start posting some great info?

We want a good technical site for all Subaru's right? Well if it stays as is, it will be too difficult to source model specific information as it will get all mixed up with everything else.

It needs to be split up, even if it is empty. Heck, it's a new site, people will expect it to be empty. As well as that, we can start filling it up with info that we find on the net anyway!
