I have a Gen2 1998 Liberty RX 2.5L Manual with 150,000 for $4500 with RWC and 5 month Rego.
I am intending to put a lot of work into this car, i want to install performance mods such as exhaust, Muffler, CAI, Short Shift etc. I am also intending to do a lot of interior mods as i do not like wood grain.
Here are the only pics i have as i dont have the car here to take some myself.
I don't particularly care if the "performance" mods don't actually effect performance as much as make noise, But i want to be comfortable with installing said mods on cars so i can help my mates out with commodores and falcons etc (larger engines that do benefit from these mods) And so when i one day get a shinny car i can install them stress free.
I'm looking at a 2.5" exhaust system with an XForce Varex so i can have my cake and eat it to.
Maybe for intake just a K&N hi flow filter or a mounted/boxed pod.
Wanting some bucket seats like THESE... however they need an adapter and i don't know if THIS will suit.
I was thinking about doing the dash in a Carbon vinyl film to cover the wood grain and improve on the black plastic look. I'm also wanting to do the gauge cluster with something like these, then carbon vinyl around them.
Anyway, now you know who i am and what i want to do.
Any constructive input is welcome

Enjoy modding your vehicle. Sounds like a nice start with the things you want to do to it ATM.

That's exactly how my first car started out looking like.
Then turned into this.

(and what a coincidence that my name is also Sam)
@Walts, Looks sweet! Thanks for the pics, i like the lowered look on it, really sexy. My lib has the factory momo gear on it so i wont be racing out to lower mine, not to mention this town i will just bottom out everywhere.
Thanks for the welcome!

What do you mean by "it has the factory Momo gear on it" so you won't lower it?@Walts, Looks sweet! Thanks for the pics, i like the lowered look on it, really sexy. The only things Momo on the car the steering wheel and the gear knob.
The suspension is made by KYB, a fairly inexpensive brand.
If you have any questions about the car, please ask us, there is quite a few Gen 2/Previous Gen 2 owners on here that know pretty much all there is to know about them.

Nice looking gen2 you've got yourself there.
I miss mine sometimes but then I put my foot down and those feelings magically disappear

Guess i will drive it around a bit and see how it handles the town and its pot holes... then decide whether or not to lower it or just stiffen it.
Thanks for the info :/

Momo don't make suspension.I was lead to believe that the suspension was the more sporty momo gear...
The higher spec'ed RX-B or Bilstein special edition has Bilstein suspension which is much sportier.

Haha is that on this forum? Or others?
It's funny because I'm not even the highest poster here

There was a gen2 'Bilstein edition' released in 98 which came with Bilstein struts from the factory but unfortunately yours doesn't have this.
You do have slightly upgraded suspension from the GX, but it's nothing to rave about
There's not much power to be gained from the stock 2.5 RX so handling is the way to go. Suspension, sway bars, strut braces, wheels, tyres, linkages, bushes, etc etc...
A nice catback exhaust can help her breathe a little better too

I'm not going to be doing much to the engine, just the cheap basics because i know there is no power to be gained.
I think i will go with interior first to make the car more pleasant to be in and the go nuts with handling.
And i could swear i've seen you on OzLiberty and Mighty Car Mods.
You guys know where to purchase these components? I'm not scared of online.
Cheers,
Ren

I got rid of the fake woodgrain in mine.I think i will go with interior first to make the car more pleasant to be in
Painted everything that was woodgrain, in silver.
Makes the interior look much more modern.

Because like Morgan, you're really a 65 year old man trapped into a 17 year old males body.I like the fake wood grain!

I will call the local blokes and see if they even know what a liberty is. (they are retarded)
Also would like to put bucket seats in like the ones i linked in OP, but i dunno about adaption.
Will jump into handling once i've been driving it for a while and can feel what i want done first. (Thanks for the link, actually has stuff for my model )
Cheers guys.
I found the Xforce Varex on ebay (2.5" version) for $380. So all i need to find is a pipe.
