Help!

Any tips on breaking strut bolts???
2 have started to round because they are so stuck on. I've tried massive poles, shifters, sockets, spanners, and a tonne of WD40. WILL NOT BUDGE.

First and formost, if you do not have crows feet spanners, get a hex-sided socket on it

Want me to call past tonight?

I'm better with reading it to be honest, I have a short attention span with spoken word, especially if I don't understand!

I do get the overall grasp of what you are saying though!

Edit, this was @ Marv.

You have my number? If not I'll PM it to you.

As I said, I have spare bolts/nuts/studs so dont stress. The biggest issue is when people panic and stuff everything beyond salvation.

Will do!

@ Morgan, if the bolt is rounded, impact driver will just round it faster. Ht.H!

Also, if you have a centre punch, try giving the stud a bit of a hit to try and shock/crack the seal!

Man up Morgan? :P

Shifters are the worst thing to use on tight nuts and bolts. Socket, breaker bar and a bit of pipe for more leverage.

These are awesome sockets to own For rounded nuts

If a bolt/nut is rounding, get a file onto it and tidy it up. You NEED flat edges. Without them you're screwed.

next step is to hammer a hex-sided socket of 1mm smaller size onto the nut. Belt the bejeesus out of it, then get a long breaker bar and slowly increase torque on the nut (releasing it, NOT tightening it). Once you are confident it won't round, keep slowly applying pressure until the bastard comes off or the socket slips off. This will wreck the nut but you'll get it undone.

If the socket slips off, get the dremel out and cut one side of the nut off.
