Do cars generally go cheap on pickes?
http://www.pickles.c...berty/402142322
Repairable write off so (if im correct) it cant be re-registered without a lot of work?
If so, may be a cheap interior etc.
How expensive they are depends on how desirable they are. Most Subarus aren't worth buying at auction because the kebananese get in and drive the prices up. Same goes for Mercs, BMWs and Audis. On the other hand, a bloke down the street from me only pays $500 per car for Renault Clio Sports and makes (on average) $2k per car profit after selling parts off.
It wouldnt fit under the car. Only place i could get it was the sway bar mount. After i took the wheel of i put it under the chassis, something my father taught me.
I feel this says it best:

Your father is, in the best case scenario, stupid. Rendog, there is a jacking point behind the sump which is the safe jacking point to raise the front of the vehicle (this is where you put a trolley jack to lift the front). Next time, squeeze in there and lift off that point, NOT anywhere else. You could injure yourself or others and do thousands of dollars of damage to your car, which it is blatantly apparent you can't afford to fix.
While everyone else in here likes having a laugh about "pulling Rendogs" someone needs to tell you this stuff because you can seriously injure - or kill - yourself working on cars in an inappropriate manner. I recently had to deal with the parents of a kid who had his skull crushed when his car came down on top of him. It was a 70s Gemini, which weighs several hundred kilos less than your car and it's f**ked this kid up royally. He was changing the wheel when the 2month old trolley jack collapsed and pinned him under the car by his head. He was incredibly lucky his neighbour was out the front and saw the car come down. His parents came to me asking "WTF went wrong?" because he's often over at mine talking about working on cars, or using my tools. I'd told him to use chassis stands, but he knew better as he was "just changing a wheel". Now he has a deformed skull, massive scarring and possible brain injuries from a stupid mistake and saving 20secs by not fitting stands under a car, or lifting from the right point. The point of this rambling diatribe is that while your posts often make me sigh for the future of humanity, I don't want an enthusiastic - if misguided - car head being hurt or worse.
When you go to work on your car (or drive it), please stop and think about what you're doing and the possible ramifications.
Cheers,
iain

Reminded me of the guy that paints on the streets and if you look at it from a certain angle it's life size. I wonder how big that contraption really is!?!

@lain, For a start dad never specified where to place the jack, just put the wheel under the car once its off.
And because the car was on an uneven part of the road (roads go like this /\ around here) that was the safest place to put it, If i had lifted the entire front of the car it would have fallen over, in this case the other three wheels were still on the ground, resulting in very good stability. My jack doesn't have a flat top btw, its curved like a stand \__/ The only way it would have fallen was if only two wheels were on the ground.
I did the best that i could in the particular situation and kept my body out from under the car as much as i could (except for putting the thing on the jack to do it up)
It is not something i intend to do again, but my lack of height, strength and the amount of space under the car, i didn't have many options.
You dont have to tell me to think through things, I already did and always do.
And also, i use stands when im working on the car at home. I spent an entire pay on a jack and stands so i could install my suspension safely.
Thank you for your concern.
