I think im gonna burn the fuckers out..

I got a torch the other day to try loosen the nuts without luck. So i might make use of it by melting the bushing lol..

Got my flex bar today too.. and its forking huge.. Going to be really surprised if it doesn't move the nuts.

Well finally got the rear diff bushings changed over.. Was a real fucker of a job untill we figured out the best way to do it.

Ended up pulling the diff fully out and had to use a old bearing case and 2 10 ml plates with a bolt thru it as a press.

I was trying to do this on stands at home.. But ended up taking it to a mates with a hoist.. 3.5 hour job all up. But very happy with the results.

I swapped mine with the Powerflex ones, will make it so much easier next time they need a change.

But looking good mate. I did the front ones also when I did these.

Anyone had experiance with these guys ?

http://www.subarugearbox.com.au/

Got a quote for a box rebuild today.. Seemed reasonable..

This is worst case senario too.. The DCCD might be fine.. But im keen on a fresh build and long ratio gears.

1.       Cost to ship the car from Melbourne on a car carrier $400+GSt

2.       Cost to remove and refit the transmission $600+GSt

3.       Cost to dismantle/Inspect/Rebuild 6 speed transmission $1000+GST

4.       Parts list price :

a.       2nd hand Dccd unit $1500+GST

b.      Long ratio  gearset can vary from $750 - $1250+GST

5.       Any additional labour costs will be changed out at $105+GSt P/H

Is the box broken or just interested in longer gears?

Always had a slight clinking / clonking from the box, whilst going around corners.

Fitted a DCCD pro, That stopped the binding but its still noisy.

You feel it a bit whilst going around corners at speed too. ( This could be a normal DCCD noise / feeling but finding anyone who knows anything about DCCD down here is impossible.)

I get a small grindy noise sometimes in the last 5 % or release in first gear so always thought that may be a throw bearing and the syncros don't feel 100 %..

Id say the box is 90% good but after spending so much on the engine a nice rebuilt box would be nice..

For 3-4k that might be what happens in the next few years..

Id love a longer 2nd and 6th..

Hmm we were talking about your issue with the John/Snowball who bought the billies. He said the noises are pretty normal for DCCD. Those other noises are probably worn out box (lol) though yeah. Could just get a new 6 speed for that price though?

Still 2k for a second hand one non DCCD.. And who knows that might be forked aswell..

I dont trust anyone with second hand parts after my adventures into the suby world..

Ive got 100% assurance my engine is perfect now.. would like that about the Box as well..

I plan on putting all the running gear in a bug eye wagon in the next 3 years..

If I didn't already have a 6 speed Id deff give that a go..

From his quote I could have mine fully rebuilt and installed with warranty for around that..

Plus I get to retain the DCCD so I haven't wasted 1k on the controller / install.

Bridgestone select do box rebuilds !! thats suprising..
