Id recommend a wagon, for sure. I own a gen3 sedan manual, but the wagon would be SO much more practical for any sort of holiday whether it be to the snow or out camping.... They look SICK lowered/dumped with some decent wheels, or even just with stockies painted black for 40 bucks. I do regret getting a sedan but i still LOVE it..

Haven't had too many problems with it. Only bad thing was that i was in the city one friday night and the clutch hose burst... dont think its a common issue at all!

oh and im not bias, wagon gen 2 or 3 will serve you brilliantly.

And 7k isnt too bad for a gen 3. Most i saw went for the 7500k mark, i got mine down to 6350.. but it did have ~215thou kms... ....id say go for a gen2, with lower kms, say 150 if u can be patient to find it :)

If you buy a 2.5 Gen2 make sure the head gasket has already been replaced. Its quite expensive to get repaired and quite painful to repair yourself.

Yes. It's not a question of IF for gen 2s, but when.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

Dunno why some of the guys here get off on saying the Gen3's front end is ugly. I am not a fan of the earlier Gen3's front end, but the subtle changes in the later revisions are much better. The Gen5 is ugly, but way out of his budget so no point bringing it up.

Gen2's may have a sleeker body about them but their motors are unfortunately rubbish, awesome project car though and there are lots of nice examples with swapped motors. If you can find a nice 2.2ltr one I don't think they have the same probem with the Gaskets?

You'll get a Gen3 for that money I reckon, maybe a GC8 with a 2ltr? I just had a quick look and even some Bug-eye's popped up, but you'll get a better condition GC8 for that money. A 2ltr forester too, if thats your sorta thing lol.

Find a nice Gen2 GX with a 2.2l 5 speed. For that money you would find a prime example. Even a Ski FX or Anniversary model with sunroofs.

The 2.2 motor is not rubbish and goes forever. The Gen2 RX is the pick of the bunch looks wise but id be making sure the head gasket has been changed or budget to do so in your purchase price.

Oh and Gen3's are ugly unless they have JDM fronts with the oem lip.

I'll just leave these here........

bah... Rev D/E Gen 3's are the bomb.. Rev A/C aren't too bad, but one thing re Gen 3 RX's, Earlier ones also had the problem of HG failure.

As Mark showed off his troop of Gen 2's, so will I of Gen 3's (ok and one Gen 2)

And the b4 was my only gen 3 sedan purchase as it will stay that way too. Wagons ftw!
