VLs are the shit. I think they're truly awesome. Where Aussie muscle componentry meets Japanese high tech, high power engines in a very advanced vehicle of the time.



Harry - you need to let get out a little more.

VL's a are one of the very few cars where you can build one to run 11s or less for under $10k.

The original Calais VL Turbo were a true sleeper back in the day. Very limited in production because V8s were more popular when released (Thanks to Bathurst and the birth of HSV), these were true monsters with minimal modifications, where they shamed many a V8.

The VL turbo raised in popularity over the last 15 years because they were cheap, unwanted, and had endless tuning potential. Now good luck finding an unmolested non turbo Calais for under $10k!

And the dose.... Oh that sweet sweet sound...l You have to have owned or driven a turbocharged vehicle to fully appreciate that sound!


You should learn to appreciate other vehicles for their own strengths, not just compare them to modern cars

I remember working on these when they were near new.

It was like 'How the fark does a Holden run so smoothly with so much grunt'.
A far cry from the previous VK with an engine that dated back to the '60s.
