In NSW there are chain laws, that only apply to 2wd. But they try and say all vehicles recommended.
If you drive to the conditions, and just take it easy, you should be fine, just don't expect because awd you have endless grip!
You would only be driving to the ski tube anyway wouldn't you?

Is there a certain point were I really need to start being careful, what kind of speed can you do pretty safely along most of the roads on the way there? I am assuming there will be some pretty icy bits.

Most of the cars you see come off the road are 4wd/awd, is all I'm saying
Haha true. Most people can't drive though.
Honestly, I was worried going down there with my tyres in the condition they are but there was seriously nothing to worry about. Take it easy and leave a large gap between you and the car in front and you'll be sweet

Adam, will be driving to Smiggins where we are staying, trust me, I am not stupid enough to think that AWD is this magical grip monster that will hold me to the road in any conditions LOL, I will be taking it easy!

one thing to check, is if there is overnight parking for the chalet guests. Normally overnight parking is pretty restricted. I think.
To be honest, I've only ever driven up in perfect dry conditions haha, so I'm not much help. What time are you heading down? Friday night?

Head unit should still work shouldn't it. The one in my Stagea is über Japanese and it works. Instead of tuning for say 99.3, try 89.3. I could be stating the obvious here.Yeah, I wanna get a GTR rear wing. They look mad. Or a Z-Tune style, but your right, it needs something. But anything was better then what was on there. Needs a few things fixed, one xenon light is out, one taillight, shocks are
'ed, and head deck is Japanese and doesn't work in Aus. Not bad though.
Sig worthy.

Unless you are the very first car to go up the mountain after a huge snow storm you will easily be fine with the speed limit.
I am pretty sure all of the Chalet car parks in Smiggins are now concreted, you should find out before heading up the mountain if you can park there overnight though. They all have very limited car parks and you can't park in the big car park overnight.
