Cuts seemed pretty scarce to me.. So when i saw one that came up fairly cheap and ticked all the box`s i just took it.. FIgured id sort the brakes out down the track when i had more cash flow.

I will prob just use te 4 pots on the car for a while then upgrade in a bit..

Cheers

But Mark this is a gen3 isnt it??? therefore multilink rear end?? im still using gen3 hubs machined to take the sti bearings and shafts

R180 hubs off the likes of an sti will not fit your car....it is a gen3 isnt it??? you will need the adaptors for the 2 pots if you adapt your hubs to suit the r180

The calipers mount to the backing plate which is on the hub. The backing plate for two pots is different to the standard backing plate found on other models.

You can machine the hub, but you will still have the same R160 backing plate. You need an R180 backing plate for the 2 pots to be direct bolt on with no adapter.

So... if i obtain R180 hubs will they bolt onto the Gen 3 ? will brembos bolt straight to the R180 hub ? im assuming they would since thats what the STI had on it..

R180 sti hubs are macpherson strut setup, gen3 has a multilink rear end...completely different style of hub

So no they wont swap straight over, best bet is to adapt the shafts and hub to fit the r180 rear diff and put dogbones on the suit...thats my setup and it works well...requires machining to the hubs and i think shortening of the shafts? But im not too sure so speak to Al

Maybe the gen4 has a hub thats ready for an r180? Tb sti maybe? Thatd take brembos etc without dogbones i think

I think the machining was like $500 or so...but dont quote me on this

Proper maching of both hubs and shafts, and pressing in the bearings??? for something thats pretty damn important...$500 is nothing??

Quality costs money

Yea i know man. but unexpected cost is .. unexpected..

well here is my response from AM for anyone interested.

He said that the axles will need to be either ’06 WRX with R180 inner CV’s or Sti axles with Sti hubs machined down to fit in Gen3 hubs.

Both of these options for rear axles will require some machining carried out which we can do here. In both cases i will need your rear bearing hubs & axles so i have the necessary parts to carry out the job.

I will need to track down either some ’06 WRX axles or Sti hubs & axles, the WRX option will be a lot cheaper but also harder to come by.

Regards Vice.
