So since replacing the head gasket and puting in a new clutch while I was at it, my clutch now sticks. You can push it in no worries but when releasing it it seems to get caught or stick at certain spots. Im fairly certain everything was greased correctly (I wasnt there when the clutch was put back on and the motor put back in the car). So it could be several things but Im wondering if someone has had a similar problem.

I talked to a specialist clutch place and they said the hydralics in the clutch are renound for failing.

Whats everyones thoughts anyway.

Cheers, Ryan.

Dunno about being renowned for failing, but the slave is half common to shit itself.
Is it new?
Bled properly?

I'll have to talk to the guy that did it and ask him. It has a new clutch and bearing and the flywheel was machined. They clutch should have been bleed with the change of clutches right?

If the hydraulic system is OK usually it's not bled. (really should be flushed when the brake fluid is flushed during service)
When the clutch is replaced it is impossible not to disturb the hydraulics and this can sometimes lead to issues shortly after the clutch job.
I know the GenIIIs suffer from a faulty slave, causing the pedal to remain on the floor so it may be something similar.
If there is any sign of leakage from either the master or slave cylinder, replace both.

Im assuming the clutch is fitted correctly and lubricated.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Cheers, I had a read through it. Dont really wana hear a loud bang to try and fix the problem though haha. Hopefully I can get it sorted quickly though

Yeah the guy that did it for me said he had greased it properly but didnt say anything about if he'd bleed the clutch. Im sure he would have but Ill have a look this weekend. If that doesnt fix it i think i might just take it somewhere to have a look. Sick of working with cars atm and i dont have the time. If I can get away with only paying a couple of hundred Ill be happy. At this stage i just want to get back to enjoying driving the thing.

Thanks for the replies anyway, gives me a starting point.

Ryan.

I had a similar problem. Found a split hydraulic line between the master and slave cylinders which caused the pedal to stay at the floor sometimes due to lack of fluid. Would be worth checking the system for leeks and re-bleeding it to make sure there's no air in the lines.

Not long after i replaced my clutch, my pedal would stick to near the floor, i dont know if it was related to me pushing the ram on the slave cylinder in and out a few times when the box was out or not, but a new slave cylinder fixed it.

Im going to bleed it this arvo and see if that helps. I only see the car on weekends as I work away all week and head back to the olds place on weekends. And it lives at the olds. makes fixing/diagnosing anything harder.

So i just bleed the clutch right through and got a few little bubbles and Walah!!!!

Clutch not sticking anymore.

It actually still grabs a tiny little bit which i think may hint that the slave is on its way out but so much better. No more bumpy high to low gear changes and taking off from a standing start is great.

Cheers for the advice and help guys. Appreciate the input.

Ryan.

you only need a new slave cylinder, like what everyone has been saying. 2 bolts and an oil line isn't that hard.

Turns out my friend didn't install the fork properly. So the box needs to come back out and a new slave is needed.

Sweet! :(
