If a VZ SS is an achievable option for you - I'd say GO FOR IT!! They're cheap to buy, relatively cheap to maintain (bar fuel) and with a bit of an exhaust + ECU mod, you can unlock a nice lump of power. Not to mention they're good looking, practical and safe. It'd be easy motoring compared to your Liberty GX, but obviously, you should WANT that before buying it. Some people enjoy endlessly tinkering with their cars, even if it only gets them 1-2KW here and there. Will you miss it? Or will you be overcome by the generous power an LS2 has to offer? I think the later.... I've always liked the VZ in particular. Looks more sharp edged and purposeful in comparison to the slightly odd looking VX and the current softie VE.

A plus for the commo is cheap and plentiful spares. Plus it is a later car so "should" be less problems.

Paul, do you own the Lib? As in nothing owing on it? If so, I'd say keep it for a few years. You've just moved, have a new job and it's not a really great idea to get into debt at the moment. However, if you've got the funds available and are dead set on buying a new ride, go for a BA XR6 Turbo. With a few mods, you'll smoke the SS.

I think he's got some cash burning a hole in his pocket

Paul don't get an RS, Gen1's are ugly <_<
Hate to say it, but I'd vote for the VZ...

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

Save up abit more cash and Buy a 02 STI. I have seen a few around the 20k mark, Yeah KM;s may be an issue, But the motors are strong as hell! think about it.. Brembo's, 6 speed, forgies, and a nice all round package. You will drive the Holden nd ford and think they are SHIT compared to a Bug STI

Not getting another Subaru. They're overated and cop bait. STi's are quick. But gutless. The VZ is as fast as an STi but i can pull a house of its foundations with it. Subaru's are useless as practical working vehicles. Fords... F*ck fords... :) I'd rather a V8 for the above mentioned reasons.

There was one for sale locally. Then I checked the insurance on them.

I'm also going for another look at a HQ monaro in town today.
I had a quick squiz yesterday.
It's just an LS, but its got a 350chev and a T400 gearbox. Nice paint job and tidy interior. He's asking $9800
Which is farking cheap.

Not parting the Sedan out guys, I have a keen buyer at this point. I asked $8500 for the car as it is and he agreed. Can't complain really.

Alex, the arse end out of the wagon is availible if you want it.

you could try going third party fire theft. Just dont drive like a spastic and if you do crash, make sure it looks like they hit you. Buy an EVO

Lance you keep missing the point. Jap cars are all HP. I want the torque for towing shit around. I don't care for 0-100km times. I'm not really after a "Performance" car persea. I just dont want a slug :P

why not settle for a Sv6 then they still have heaps of go 190kw from the alloy tec insurence would be cheaper and they'll still tow your bikes around, can only go as fast as the speed limit unless your keen on track days...

*sigh* I'll try again. It's all about the torque. V6's make less off it, higher in the rev range. This is why most Jap cars are out of the question. How do the Soarers go? Anyone know? The 1uzfe namely. I couldn't give two shits about the Nugget TT's.

How do the Soarers go?

They go well, if you can find a good example of one.

They're as rare as teeth on a dylan 'one night stand' special.

'bout time you made yourself useful. Auto - manual. I couldn't care less, so long as they do the job. They're certainly not worth 30k to me however.

If you're interested in a Soarer, would you also consider the LS400? Same engine, 4 doors = WIN!

Totally depends on the price. Considering I can get a Vy/Vz SS for 15-20k. They'd want to be cheap.
