That's another name for rear trailing arms bobbyjimmy?

No, trailing arms are trailing arms, they run north-south on the car. On the Liberty they have the wheel bearing/hub, brakes, lateral links etc bolted to it - #22 & 24 in the picture.

Lateral links run east-west on the car - #'s 13, 12 & 14, 6 in the picture.

So you changed #'s 6 & 7.

Ah I see. I only changed #6, not #7. I used the same bolts and stuff, the only thing that was different was #6 (the arm itself) and #3 (the bush). I don't know what you're on about regarding the lateral links...

So as some of you may know by now, tomorrow I will be making my way bright and early to ICHIban to get some much needed work done to my car. The things on the list include:

  • General service
  • Replace my full factory Bilstein suspension with a completely new set of factory Billies, with only approximately 600 km on them
  • Replace my LH front wheel bearing (I have bought one with 88,000 km mileage)
  • Install a Fumoto oil drain valve

This will then lead me onto Pedders in Mascot (or Moorebank), where the following will be done:

  • Replace my lower control arm bushes with new Whiteline ones I have purchased (I have yet to ask how much this will cost me)
  • Get a full wheel alignment

As you can guess, this won't all be done tomorrow but I am aiming on completing everything within the next week. Finally, I am still weighing up on whether I should machine my current brake discs for $40 per disc at All Drive Subaroo or going for Ben's option and buying brand new RDA brake discs for just $90 each, which includes installation. What do you guys think. Only then will I be able to install my newly purchased Hawk Performance Ceramics.

Oh, and after all of this is done, a brand new set of Kumho KU31's will be in the works. Pretty much on the money to getting my car as perfect as possible. I wanted to start with the insides first before going for aesthetics and I seriously couldn't have done it without the awesome members of this forum (and club.liberty)! Thanks to everyone involved so far.

I will update everyone on how it all goes and whether there is anything else I have forgotten to mention.

Here are some pics of the goods:

If that's the case, then I'll have to postpone the purchase of them and the installation of the new pads. I'm already spending about $400 tomorrow and then $560 on a new set of tyres next week.

I wish money grew on trees.

Might be the way to go though. New discs along with the new pads. Sell my old discs I guess...

IIRC from previous, Gary's rotors are nearing the end of their life? I could be wrong in my recollections.

WHERE THE FORK DID YOU FIND NEW BILLIES?

Are they H6 ones?

I would be interested to see if the part numbers match what's in the car.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

I don't think I've ever mentioned the brake discs themselves, however my pads are a different thing. My fronts were at 30% and rears were 70% in March's service...

Nope. They are from an '08 STi. I will definitely be asking Ben whether they're spot on or not. Here is the description the seller gave me:

Hi Gary,

They were off one of the Liberty GT's that were converted to the Tuned By STI models in 08. If you search for Wheelpower on the forums they were selling them off but they are all gone now. They would of had less than 100kms on them when I bought them and 500kms max from me.
I also disassembled the front shocks and regreased them before installing
I have the original springs from them as well if you aren't interested in the Swifts.

The reason why he regreased them is because apparently they don't come completely greased up from factory. Or at least not maxed out. Good or bad thing?

Ahh ok then. Alzheimer's.....

Really need to check thickness of the rotors then to see if machining is fine or replacing is needed..

Is there a way for me personally to check that out though? Is it similar to seeing when your pads are close to the end of their lives? I'm sure All Drive Subaroo will tell me whether they're worth machining or not. Or may be they won't and hope that I pay them for new ones.

And what would you compare it to? What does the thickness have to be before they're forked?

Gary, minimum thickness is written on the disk.

Measure with verniers :)

This. Or a quick google should be able to souce the relavent information

Ruler would still work for an indication, you could even get two paddle pop sticks and someone to hold them against each face of the disc and measure the gap between them.

It's an extra $50 to replace rather then machine. Just replace them. You won't have to worry about them for the life of the pads then.
