Yeah, I agree with you Morgan, to a degree. Sales is a separate entity to service. Uncle Jason works in service.
Dad bought a new car recently and had a wholesaler friend on the lookout for us.
Dad found a car he liked on Carsales which was located at Trivette's and asked the wholesaler about it (has more negotiating power than a regular punter). This guy was very cautious as he's NEVER had a good experience with these people but inquired about it for us anyway.
After lots of fluffing around they finally got back to us. We agreed on a price but they were still slack with their communication. Still reluctant to go ahead with it because of their incompetence but we were getting desperate for a car (borrowing a friend's car for 8 weeks wasn't ideal).
Finally they got back to us but dad noticed the rego was different to the one we were originally interested in. They had lost our car. Days later, they figured out they had sold it weeks ago. This other car they tried to sell us wasn't the same spec as the original but dad was willing to buy it anyway (at a much cheaper price). Because desperate. However it was then, that dad noticed the wheels were different and a few luxuries were missing. It was the base-spec model.
They sold our car (top-spec), then tried to sell us a different car which was the base-spec which was advertised as the mid-spec.
So much stuffing around. This whole process took about 4 weeks.
Never again.
I was highly reccomended to see Trivett's as Tara's parents had bought multiple cars from them (albeit, from Parramatta).
When I was on the hunt for the disco, they had one at Alexandria. A 2010. I didn't like the colour (dark brown, which looks like black), but test drove none the less.
Salesman was a rude jerk, misleading us with features it didn't actually have, and was the car was actually a 2009 build, MY10 (which I specifically asked for the build date, not model date).
Long story short: Tara wrote an email of complaint, and called uncle Jason. In a rage, Jason rings us back, and apologises profusely, informing us that Trivett spends tens of thousands of dollars monthly on advertising to have some fat overweight middle aged balding jerk (who was employed originally from Holden, only a couple months before hand) turn us away with his rudeness, abruptness and unwillingness to assist with our inquiries.
Trivett themselves responded saying that they've taken disciplinary action with the staff member, and offered a complimentary full detail of the vehicle (yeah, right...with steel wool?)
Ended up buying a car from Queensland, privately, a MY12 six month old, and saved over $10000.
They have a good reputation, and wish to uphold it. Should have complained.
Anyways, uncle Jason works in service. Staff priced servicing = can't complain too much. Extended warranty to 2017 = happy.
As Shiv stated, it's very well worth having the extended warranty. On the Land Rover forums, Trivett has a terrific reputation in upholding Warranty claims, as opposed to some other dealerships around the country.
